am making a road trip to taney for the first time this monday and was wanting advice on where to fish. any help would be appreciated.

From your post in the introduction, you fly fish so I'll point out some good places.

Between outlet 1 and 2 there is some excellent moving water that's full of fish. Drift either midge patterns like thread midge or WD40 in #20 or #22 or small scuds in #20 gray or brown here. You can also strip cracklebacks #18's of soft hackles #16's. Outlet #2 has alot of fish. Below 2 is slower water and good using cracklebacks or woolies. Rebar shoot drift larger scuds, midge patterns or egg flies. Even a san juan would work. Below the rebar, you're back to drifting scuds #18 or #16 in gray, cream, olive or brown. That will take you all day to cover.

Someone asked about spin fishing this area... best to use a long rod- 6 to 7 feet. 2 lb line best. Throw small jigs if water is not running- 1/16th being the biggest down to 1/32 and even 1/50th. Work the tip of the rod slightly while holding it high in the air- almost straight up. Sight fish- hop it off the bottom and watch them pick it up. Colors- use dark shades; black, brown, sculpin, olive or a mixture of these; or use light colors like ginger, gray or white.

Use a jig and bobber using smaller jigs such as 1/100 to 1/125th oz in marabou and micro jigs to 1/256th oz in same colors. Set the bobber 1-3 feet deep, depending on the depth of water.

Small crank baits can be very good- or very bad. Try them but don't spend alot of time using them if they aren't biting.

I've never had luck with spinners or spoons.

The small crankbait like Phil mentioned, floating Rapala's and Rogue's.. I think they work.. treat the trout just like bass and go after them with something big! It can work real well during certain dead spells.

I never use an indicator while fishing a soft hackle. I suppose you could, but I have never seen a reason to.

Phil,

Just noticed your reply - and the map you posted. I think I've seen it before, somewhere, but it doesn't match the other maps on the site, it is more detailed and better. Where is it available? I'd like to print it out. Are there more sections available, say down to the KOA and beyond?
