shawncat
Just got back from Norfork.Things are changing. They were taking the dock down where the old worlds record was once caught.38lbs. it was back in 1988.I'll bet there were alot more big ones caught there.McClellons dock that is.The owners said they don't know if they would rebuild it or not.I know I got a story or two about that dock.Sure going to miss it.I also noticed that their putting a new sub-division over the dam area.Hope the runnoff does'nt hurt the river.I guess the older we get the more we like things to stay the same.Sorry about the bad news but the good news is the fishing was GREAT!I caught a 6lbs. brown that measured 24".Most of the rainbows were running small due to a fresh stocking .The browns were about in that 13-15" range with a few 16 " plus.We were there 4 days with many twenty plus catch days.Does anyone know were I can get a sew -on patch from Norfork River. Not a lunker patch just a patch that say's Norfork River on it.I have been searching for years for one.I have many from places like Bennett, Montauk, and White River but can't find one from the Norfork {Taneycomo either}.Any locals out there know a store that sells them?I have checked all the fly shops {Two Rivers,Blue Ribbon}and places like Genes and the Y store.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Snow Fly
Brian: I guess we meet on another part of the forum ! We were at North Fork 4/5-4/9 and heard that no one knows their plan about the dock. Also found out a large parcel of land directly across from Genes Trout Resort is perhaps for sale! My contact said they know for sure the land has been surveyed, for what? no one knows! Makes bad thoughts cross your mind doesn't it! Take Care "God gave fishermen expectancy, so they would never tire of throwing out a line"
Brian K. Shaffer
Across from Gene's is like a total bluff bank ? Aint it ? Who .. what ... when... where ???? Norfork sure is a changin'! I wish it would all go Gold Medal Fly Only. (just my opinion) I used to know the guys that owned the rental house right there at the turn-in at the Handicapped Access. The would let me park around back and fish where ever I wanted along the property. I miss those days. That got kinda strange when them condo's went up down below. Are those owned by Peals still ? screaming reels - Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now. Snow Fly
Brian: The land across from Gene's has a high bank but it looks like it is pasture land I have seen cattle near the barb wire fence that is on the top side of the bank, most of the trees were missing when I first started fishing there about 6 years ago. Danoinark
Brian, I heard this RUMOR today...that Orvis may be buying McClellans for one of their fishing school locations. I have no idea even if this is at all true....only a rumor I picked up...Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Brian K. Shaffer
I will miss paying my $3 to fish this water, if it is overtaken. Time's are a CHARGIN (changing) ahead for sure.... Snow Fly
Brian: How is the fishing from the dock down stream? I went to scout out the area and was shown where to drop off the $3 but never went back to fish the area, how is it? How much time you have to get back up stream if they start running water? Does the C&R area start where Otter Creek runs into Norfork Tilwaters? Lot of ? not many answers! I do hate to see what is taking place in the area, one of the few places where everything is pretty laid back. Like I said my contact said he knows the land across from Gene's has been surveyed but that is all and who's owns that land he either doesn't want to say or doesn't know. Will be back done there in two weeks, will see if anyone has heard anything.
