Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 6, 2008 Root Admin Posted January 6, 2008 Very nice trout weighed in today. 33- 2 men teams today which was warm and breezy but much better than a normal winter day. Reports say fishing was good in the am and slowed in the pm but one team said they caught more browns about noon, including a 21 inch keeper on a crank bait. Bait is allowed so some of the fish were caught on power bait, others on jigs and some on spoons. Above normal weights, 8 trout weighed per team. 1. Allen/Huff with 9.42 lbs. 3.90 rainbow 2. Schuler/Spain with 7.06 lbs. 3.84 brown (21 inches) 3. Goertz/Collins with 6.94 lbs. 4. Heinz/Woodruff with 6.52 lbs. 5. Hampton/Lentz with 6.26 lbs. 6. Collins/Mazdra with 6.24 lbs. 7. Salger/Boswell with 6.22 lbs. 8. Ochlitree/Benz with 6.18 lbs. 9. Otte/Otte with 6.12 lbs. 10. Garvey/Doolan with 5.86 lbs.
Trav Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Did any of them go below roark? A 12 inch brown weighed almost 4 pounds? Must be a typo. How can you weigh in a 12 inch brownie? Thought there was a law against stringering the pups? I am just going to assume it was a typo. How many bows out of the slot limit were there? Were they all released alive? If I would have particiaped, all my fish would have been dead when I reached the scales. Treking 30 minutes from my chosen fishin grounds. But even if I did show up with a bunch of dead fish I would have beaten 10 pounds and with just 4 fish. Of course, I would have been handicapped an hour just to do the commute and If I didnt pick up at least one of my average brownies(around 6 pounds) it would have been a tight one. Still, I can average almost 2 pounds a peice with bows if I catch enough to cull up. Thats close to 8 pounds for half the stringer numbers as a team. And not even get sticky bait fingers. Bait fishing in a Tourney? Do we have no ethics? I would have been really upset to loose to a bunch of dough sopping-worm drowners. Haha Might as well add electro-shock fishing and dynamite as legal tourney methods while your at it. My retarded cousin can catch fish bigger than the 1.3 pounds per fish average that this tourney produced, if, he could use red wigglers and a bobber. I have seen him do it. 45 year old "Dudeeder" and all. Im sorry if I am sounding critical. Just curious as to how something for money can be so lax. We are talking about $3300 of combined purse money. I guess the important thing is you got to go out and fish competitvely(sort of) on such a pretty day. Was a great day of burning out a tree stump for me. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Members jlpatton1 Posted January 6, 2008 Members Posted January 6, 2008 Hey guys, everyone I talked to had a great time. Thanks to the guys at Lilley's for putting this on... a lot of work goes into these tournaments. Sounds like the Gentleman critizing the tournament should sign up and try it if he thinks he can do better...... maybe his cousin won't fish with him. Thanks again for putting this on, Lamar Patton Scotty's Trout Dock & Marina Lamar Patton Scotty's Trout Dock & Marina Branson, MO
Trav Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Hey Lamar, You are new to the sight so I wont razz ya too much. Most these guys know I am a born critic and can find fault in everything and anything. You will get used to it or learn to put me on "ignore". Haha. Also, I may talk crap but I am not "full of it". When I say 10 pounds is an easy mark to beat, I mean for me. Most the guys doing those tourneys couldnt even get a limit if they had to fish below roark. Thats a fact. Maybe you should read some of my old posts. Might enlighten you about the depth of my knowledge on this lake. I average 30 brownies a year over 20 inches, 42 in 07. None of them above roark. Ask all those fisherman coming and going out of your "new" dock if any of them can say that. As far as being in a tournement? I wouldnt be a part of any tourney that allows bait fishing. Members wildminnow Posted January 7, 2008 Members Posted January 7, 2008 Well Trav you sure seem to be the best fisherman on here, and the best at typing as well since you respond to every thread and start 14 a day maybe we should set up a poll to see who else thinks the same way I do!

Trav Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 I will add condescending to the long list of my traits to my persona. Although I have never claimed to be better than anyone, but if you care to label me that, sarcastically or not, I guess that is your right to do so. I just call things as I see em. I really dont care what anyone thinks. And if you dont appreciate what I have to say/post, then you can always put me on ignore and pretend I dont exist. No one is putting a gun to your head and making you read them. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Members PowersiteProwler Posted January 7, 2008 Members Posted January 7, 2008 condensending That's "Condescending"
tippet7 Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 ... I guess that is your opinion to do so. Actually it would be an "entitlement" to do so. It would be one's "opinion" that you are quite full of yourself. You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
Members PowersiteProwler Posted January 7, 2008 Members Posted January 7, 2008 Yes, it's a good thing trav fishes Taneycomo, and the Taxidermist fishes bull shoals; because if they ever fished the same waters it would decimate the population.
