St. Louis County Parks Gone Fishin' 2008 - Phil Lilley-january 16th

To all OAF members.....Phil Lilley will be in St. Louis to discuss trout fishing on Taneycomo, January 16th at Queeny Park. Here is the description from the flyer that was in the STL County Journal a couple weeks ago:

"Lake Taneycomo has a worldwide reputation as one of the greatest trout waters anywhere! Perhaps the best angler on the lake is Phil Lilley. He has been fishing and guiding on Taneycomo for a long time and will be providing you the information you need to be a successful angler. Even grizzled old timers can learn a bagful of tricks from this accomplished angler. Don’t miss this very popular program. Sounds like a great time, I plan on being there. Will be nice to put a face with this forum. I couldn't make Taney on New Years Day, I have never fished at Taney so Im looking forward to the presentation. Hope to see some of the rest of you there.

I have to second that, Phil you put on a great class. Its nice to put faces to the names on here. Nice to meet you Phil. Have fun in Florida. Nice to socialize with Flyfshn again and your friend (sorry forgot his name already). We have got to get together and do some fishin.

I've been doing that tolk for may be 10 years now. The first time I was nervious as the dicken's, wrote up a monolog of sorts and even started to read the thing ... I'm NOT a good reader. I quickly gathered myself and winged it. Been wingin' it ever since. Tuesday I started to write an outline- that quickly ceased cause it didn't make any sense. I chance way too many rabbits to stay to an outline. I really don't have a clue what I'm going to say until I'm standing there in front of everyone. But it works I guess.

I did feel like I left out alot but I talked the whole 2 hours so I must have covered alot. Questions are aways good. I can answer them with alittle more details.

Steff said we had a few over 100. Most in the room raised their hands when asked if they had NEVER fished Taneycomo. That's cool. We'll have some new comers try us here in the next few months hopefully.

Had a bunch of guys from Ozark FFF there. I was honored.

I had planned to be there but got stuck going out of town for work. Mid week events are hard to make when you travel. Phil the good thing about that kind of talk is it turns out a little different every time. Hope I can make it next year.
