JobyKSU Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 I realize it is not the easiest job, and I couldn't do better. None-the-less, Fox needs a new crew. Green Bay vs. Seattle: 1st play from scrimmage Green Bay fumbles the ball and it is returned to the 1 yard line. The announcers comment? "Well, that's a terrible start for Green Bay." You think? Way to add to the conversation there, friend ::. JobyKSU Tippet Breaker Extraordinaire
flyfshn Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 JobyKSU, that's funny.....I was thinking the same thing! When Kenny Albert started, I couldn't believe it....guess they can't find anything better. Fish On! Mike Utt “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 13, 2008 Root Admin Posted January 13, 2008 Some of the commentators on the bowl games were absolutely terrible. Funny at first but got really annoying.
flyfshn Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 What a great game though....really cool with the snow! Fish On! Mike Utt “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. JobyKSU Posted January 13, 2008 Author Posted January 13, 2008 How about that... Seattle scores 14 in the first 4 minutes, 6 the rest of the game. Old man Favre still has magic, and fun! ::. JobyKSU Tippet Breaker Extraordinaire
Thom Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 What is really irritating to me is when the action on the field is interesting and exciting and the cameras are showing a picture of two has been announcers making small talk about something completely off the action. Here I set with a wide screen 1500 dollar TV with more than half of it showing a sideline commentator making obvious comments or two overweight has beens taking up 60% of the screen. Another pet peeve is when they put the station logo in the corner covering the stats or a wheather report map which is too small to make any sense covering up the stats. Picky Picky Picky.... I actually expect competence of some sort from a multimillion dollar network. Thom Harvengt
JobyKSU Posted January 13, 2008 Author Posted January 13, 2008 I actually expect competence of some sort from a multimillion dollar network. Well, in all fairness, it is only Fox. Honestly, they should pay Matt Groening to have Homer do the color commentary. ::. JobyKSU Tippet Breaker Extraordinaire
JobyKSU Posted January 13, 2008 Author Posted January 13, 2008 I hope I dont ruffle feathers but you guys could have used your day off to help someone haul things home from lowes because they cant afford the items and delivery, or helping a neighbor with their broke down car, or even taking a walk with your wife.It was just a football game in the snow and it seems like a onesided one at that. I realize I'm still a bit of a new guy, but seems like a bit severe of a comment, especially on a site that is based around fishing which is, for the overwhelming majority of people, a hobby. Not that I feel like I need to defend myself, but this also wasn't my day off. As a semi-professional student, I've been rifling through research and textbooks all day as well as writing papers. Regarding your suggestions of alternative activities, members of this sight are, by far, some of the more giving and generous group of people I have had the pleasure of interacting with. I'm not quite sure what instigated the post, but I hope you aren't too offended by our choice of "free-time" activities. ::. JobyKSU Tippet Breaker Extraordinaire
Thom Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Hey crappie fisherman You need to get your facts straight. I spent most of my morning setting with my wife who has Alzhiemers. I did go to a friends house in the afternoon at halftime whose wife is also an invalid with my wife accompaning me to help him with an electrical problem. when my sitter for my wife came later in the day I went to clean up at the food pantry after they closed. My conscience is clean so your little mind didn't ruffle my feathers. What did you do with your time today? Thom Harvengt
flyfshn Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 CF, did some home repairs this morning and you are right, I could/should have done something for my fellow man, like Thom who went to a food pantry, but I worked 52 hours this week and I just decided to relax and watch a football game. After using my brain all week, ocassionally I like to take a day and do nothing! I would prefer to spend those "do nothing" days fishing, but I do not live that close to water and cannot afford the gas/lodging that often. Ok? Now I am going to go back to watching the second football game, reading posts on OA and talking to my daughters. Fish On! Mike Utt “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery.
