Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 13, 2008 Root Admin Posted January 13, 2008 Great day of fishing. Mild, alittle tiny bit of wind and cloudy. Not a whole lot of boats either. Most every one said they caught alot of trout. Browns seemed to be hungry today too. 2 keepers weighed in and more stories about big browns chasing baits all day. John Hittler and Frank Dietl took first place with 9.40 lbs. with a 3.06, 20.5 inch brown $500 Zachary Slagle and Bill Slagle finished second with 9.12 pounds with a 3.40 lb, 21 inch brown which took biggest brown $320 Jeff Alley and Chris Huelsebusch had 6.98 lbs with a 1.88 lb rainbow which took largest rainbow $200 John Beam and Keith Topolski finished fourth with 6.72 lbs. $125 Big rainbow and brown- $120 each. Had 25 teams fish the event. 12 weighed in 6 or more pounds (8 trout) which is exceptional. There were some real good trout caught on an egg fly/jig head under a float in the Short Creek area. One of the browns took an egg fly. This surprised me. Someone said the browns were just hungry today!! Most other rainbows were caught on jigs. Thom Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Glad to hear that the fishing was good this weekend. I didn't make it to Taney but some of my flys did. I have a friend (Jake) who I tied up some of the stuff that I had good luck with last month and six of his buddies who were staying at Lilley's this week end to fish. Hope they had a great time and experienced tight lines. Thom Harvengt
Members alletec Posted January 19, 2008 Members Posted January 19, 2008 I would like to thank the Lilly's for all they do for their customes. I have my oun business and I try and spoil my customers with service, and that is what the Lilly's do aswell. Curtis always makes sure my boat is full of gas and the batteries are ready to go. Those little things make it so all I have to concetrate on is what to tie on my line. Thanks for every thing. This was my partner and my first ever tournament. We had no idea we would do this well. The big fish was the first fish. We knew it was going to be a good day. We had our limit by 9:15. Between the two of use we cauth 50 fish. We fished below Fall Creek on the chanel side of the bank with brown jigs. We did swich off to other colors thoughout the day but brown was most productive. Chris, my partner, hooked a good fish down stream from Lilly's with about 15 minutes to go but it came off before we got it to the boat. We had a great time and can't wait for next year. Jeff Alley
Thom Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Regards to all who fished the tournament. My friend Jake who fished out of Lilley's the same time as the tournament called me when he got back. He had much the same to say as you concerning service provided by Curtis and hospitality at Lilley's. Of the flies that Jake caught fish on he also said this brown jig that I had tied for him had given him the best results. He also fished the fall creek area with success. Thom Harvengt
