Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 26, 2008 Root Admin Posted January 26, 2008 This is the first topic I've read in a week, first thanks to Dano sending me an emailing warning me about the meltdown. But I had to chuckle... First good ol' Leonard hit and run. I know sometimes fingers get itchy and you want to get someone but please... stick around for the rebuttal! And Trav... I too knew it was a matter of time when there was going to be a dog pile. And now that it's out of most of your system, will it lay? Until next time. I was glad to see someone like Trav come along. When a person joins in and share reports and techniques to any lake or river on a forum, it's a good thing- unless it's all a crock which I don't believe this is. I've always know the lower lake was an undiscovered gem of a fishery- undiscovered by most anglers that is. And I believe the brown trout info... may be it's alittle hard for us who only catch a few nice browns every spawn season to swallow that the rest of the year they are ripe for the picking someplace else. As for the bragging... I read it and go on. I take no offense to it or am I intimidated by it. Whether it's 100% accurate- don't know and don't care really- for purposes for this forum, all reports are subject to judgement. Hey Trav... you already used the list once before. Use it again and we may think you are losing it a bit.
Leonard Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Ok... Here is my reply!!! First off.... what got me was a new guy to the sport (just learning ) caught a very nice fish (an 18in brown).. Then for someone to come and say that an 18 inch brown isn't big enough to go on a scale.. Well most of us fly guys have caught an 18in'er although some probably has not.... Its not that I don't believe Trav and the fish he is catching on the lower lake. I know they are there!! Next the reason I didn't reply is I was working that night and when I got home there was already 60+ post and most of them became either bashing me or Trav. So it was pointless. No I never met for a dog pile to happen but it did... I be the first to apologize to Trav... (But in my opinion it just wasn’t right to do that!) Now John19... you really what to know where I' have fished... Hickory Creek (Neosho Mo), Shoal Creek (Neosho/Joplin Mo), Table Rock (from Indian Point to Kimberling City to Cricket Creek to Long creek) Bull Shoals (Swan Creek, Beaver Creek and below the dam and round K dock and down MM hwy) Carpenter Dam (Hot Spring Ark, and 2 of the other lakes there), Neosho River (twin rivers area in Ok), White River (Ark)..... I can keep going if you want me to!! As far as the flies I tie.. You can say what you want to.. just remember you don't have to use them. Now, where have I fished on Lake Taneycomo ... well of course the Dam, Cooper/Lilley's area, Down below CofO, down town Branson, down below TT hwy, Rockaway Beach, and even above the dam at powersite.. If you really want to know Ive been fishing Taneycomo since I could hold a rod ( close to 30 years).. No Im not the "BEST" fisherman on Taneycomo probably will never be... Now for the guys who did over 2000 hour on Taneycomo. how about this.. with a 5 hour ave... but does it really matter? 92 days 262 ..nights (this was up by the dam) 58 days below fall creek yes I live closer then most... so I get down there more often.. http://www.taneycomonights.com
Zach Bearden Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Trav, Honestly, I don't come up here very often but it really makes me mad that guys like you can come up here and will start dissing fly fishing.... I don't much care for spin fishing, never will again, too easy. Maybe if you were to be stuck on a creek with a small box of flies a floating line and 7x tippet, you would get why we respect Leonard so much. Not a guy with a major ego and a spinning rod. Trav Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Welcome Back Phil! Is that a spray on tan you have?....wink wink Haha, I dont mind the "dog-pack". Truth be told, Im wearing pork chop ear-rings. As far as the list, I was just trying to "quote" myself. Something most people know I do well anyway. Leanord....I have never disrespected you or anyone else. I made light of an average-sized fish and somehow it got turned into the equivalent of some kind of blasphemy. As opinionated as I can get, I am always posting with a smile. Is it really my fault that some people carry thier emotions on a string? If anyone is really considering the notion that I take this "rap" serious, only proves that I am not the only one struggling with ego issues. Wink Haha, Did I mention, I encourage the worst out of people? Hey Phil, Should I start a new list and put Manipulative on top? Maybe Narcissistic would be better. wink "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 27, 2008 Root Admin Posted January 27, 2008 Hope everyone noticed, esp Leonard, that I chuckled. That means I think most if not all this thread is humorous. I see Trav for who he is... he enjoys getting a rise out of people and the more everyone gets upset about it the better it is for him. So if you want to get back at him, don't respond. I could make a new section on the forum and name it: Trav against the World or Dog Pile I could move these topics over when they get out of hand. :) notice the smiley faces! And I don't do sprays. It's the real thing.
Greg Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 No Im not the "BEST" fisherman on Taneycomo probably will never be... Said like a true gentleman Leonard. It's been my experience in life that those that are humble are often the best at what they do. Don Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Hey wait a minute! No fair! There's way too much discussion about good/best fisherman here. What about us amateurs? I feel left out. As a matter of fact, there have been many days on the water that I can claim the fame as the worst fisherman and I have no pics to prove it. For some reason I keep on going fishing . The last time I went, I only caught 10 fish in over 4 hours and missed tons of strikes. It had to be my worst strike to catch ratio I have ever experienced . Man, it was still a great day to be out on the water. Well, chores are all done and the weather looks good. Time to start packing and head to Taney. Don May Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Trav Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Its ok Don, Sometimes I can go 10 hours and catch only 4 fish. Alot of times I will fish 3 species before I can find some to bite at all. Wink "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
