Leonard Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 I got to the dam about 8pm.. WHAT A CROWD.. I thought fall was here again..LOL... I met up with John at the pavillion and we headed to KOA. We started with a leech and a few good strikes but no hook ups. Next we put on a olive pine squirrel (beaded).. and that was the fly that stayed on the rest of the night.. All we had to do was toss it out and drift it down straight. John had a AWESOME night!! Here is a picture from last night...LOL (you guys are going to love this).. On a Olive pine squirrel.. http://www.taneycomonights.com
Trav Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Haha..nice, I chase whites all over the lower lake. In the spring those puppys will school up and you can catch hundreds of them down here in my neck of the holler. Sometimes it seems with nothing but shiny hooks. They are very aggressive. Not surprising to catch two at a time off of one crank. I often wondered how far upstream they ran, looks to me they run the whole distance of the lake now. Good thing the trout are stocked. With those guys building populations, if the trout had to spawn in the lake, they wouldnt stand a snowballs chance on the sun of coexisting past thier intial fry stage. Taneycomo is too small for thier to be to many top predators. Not to mention that the only true forage for the current competitors are rainbows, panfish, or each other.
