Members ozarks Posted February 13, 2008 Members Posted February 13, 2008 I mostly fish the area of the St. Francis that forms the Missouri/Arkansas border south of Wilhelmina.
Members ozarks Posted February 13, 2008 Members Posted February 13, 2008 Along the Missouri/Arkansas line Commercial fishing has taken its toll on the large Catfish that once roamed this river. It seems most of the catch now is small Channel Catfish and drum.
RiverRunner Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Ozarks, Have you ever caught any bass in the river down that way? All of my St. Francis River fishing has been from the 412 bridge south.
Members WappapelloDave Posted March 19, 2008 Members Posted March 19, 2008 fishingwhitemike I lived at Wappapello for 20 years. Below the dam was/is good fishing,. If your talking about the water near the levy by the storage sheds and what used to be a baitshop/campground only one side is public. The other side is mingo creek and suronded by private land, and has nothing in it except carp anymore. The river side holds some fish but not much heavy pressure from campers. It varies alot depending on what the corps feels like doing with the water. at the outlet are mainly bluegill and drum some cats will hole up but mostly i catch rocks. The first bend puts a good slow on the water comming out and that corner will hold cats but it's fished hard. Next is the dam boatramp from it to the davis camp/iron bridge on cr-517 is fished moderatly last time i was there last year it looked like it was dredged. By know some cover should have grown back. I havent really gone much past that except around otter slough and didn't catch anything in the river their. Between outter slough and the dam should be good fishing as access as far as I know is by boat only from either otter or wappapello. It's been a while since i put any serios time fishing the river though any more i just go back to visit friends so my info is fairly old and might not hold any water. Normaly we just go out on the lake in the morning before the kids want to go swimming.
