JobyKSU Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I realize that I'm kind of a rookie around here, but would anyone be interested in a swap consisting of flies of your own creation? Type doesn't matter: nymphs, streamers, dries, soft hackles, etc. The only stipulation is that it is something that you came up with yourself and fished. Because we all know that nothing is ever completely new anymore, variants are fine. Looking for a total of 6 participants to tie 12 + 1 for Rolan. This will give us something to do during February, I'll suggest a preliminary due date of March 1st. I'll offer my Bulldog Hackle. I've had some really good luck with it when the fish are just cruising and not hitting a specific hatch. Participants: 1. JobyKSU - Bulldog Hackle: RECEIVED 2. Flyfishmaster - Crystal Scud: RECEIVED 3. Danoinark - Green Dacron caddis nymph: RECEIVED 4. Kicknbass - zonker head marabou tail: RECEIVED 5. DuckyDoty - Green Cadis Pupa: RECEIVED 6. Soggyfeet - the Soggyfoot Sculpin: RECEIVED DUE DATE MARCH 1st ::. JobyKSU Tippet Breaker Extraordinaire
flyfishmaster Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 JobyKSU, I have never been in a fly swap before so I guess I will throw my hat into this one. I make a variation of scud pattern with a crystal bead in size 20. I know I can always catch a few fish with in shallow riffle water. Thanks, FFM aka: Kim A. Woo Hoo Fish On!!
Danoinark Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Great idea for a swap Joby. Count me in with a Green Dacron caddis nymph. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Kicknbass Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Count me in for something. " Too many hobbies to work" - "Must work to eat and play"
duckydoty Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I haven't been in a swap in well over a year. I'd like to get in on this one with a fly I did for Hatches magazine before it became a hard copy. The fly is a woven green caddis puppa Here is a link to the recipe Green Caddis Puppa duckydoty A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners

JobyKSU Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 Wow... great response folks. We're officially full Soggyfeet, if that fly won't catch fish then I'm giving up the sport! Now, since you've committed to the swap, you're going to have to find your way to water to test it out. (See how good I am at coming up with excuses?) Kicknbass, let us know what you come up with I'm looking forward to the variety of flies we're producing here. Nice to see that we're getting spoiled by a few of the OAF elders I've actually gotten a decent start on my flies. I need to run to my grandmother's house and pick up some more canary feathers. I'll PM everyone with my address - send 2 flies for everyone plus 1 for pictures: Total 13 flies (triskadekaphobia anyone?) I'll double check with Rolan to see if he is still interested in photographing. Don't forget to tag each fly with the pattern and tier's name. It'll make it much easier to credit you on our fishing reports. Deadline will be Saturday, March 1st, but if we can all get them in sooner, then I'll get them out right away. Include a self addressed/stamped envelope and you should receive a package just in time for the springtime warmup! ::. JobyKSU Tippet Breaker Extraordinaire
JobyKSU Posted February 3, 2008 Author Posted February 3, 2008 It's official: flyfishmaster has submitted flies in record time. Beautiful crystal scuds, looks like size 20. It's a good thing they weren't here before I left for fishing today ;-) Just a reminder - please attach a small tag of paper to the hooks of your flies with the name and size attached, so we know who to credit when I send them out. I'll try to fill in for anyone that forgets, but I can be a little bit scatter-brained ::. JobyKSU Tippet Breaker Extraordinaire

JobyKSU Posted February 17, 2008 Author Posted February 17, 2008 We are now past the half-way point - I've received flies from Kim, and I've now finished mine. With about two weeks left, how's everyone doing? ::. JobyKSU Tippet Breaker Extraordinaire
