ryan Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Wondering if anyone has any info on the springfield bass club. I heard they meet the first monday of every month at sunshine lanes. I would love to get involved and fish a few tournaments, the problem is I am unavailable to meet on mondays due to prior engagements. I am going to try and fish a few tournaments in the hearland this year with my buddy mike lucas but would like to fish some smaller club tournaments. Thanks ryan clark

Trav Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 No offense, the local bass clubs surrounding spankfield are full of aspiring want-to-be Vampires. They run around looking for the blood of others. Not a one of them could dedicate to a simple attack plan without the advice of another. That might be a bit harsh. Nawww....Its the truth. They all care more about the boats they own and the reels they can backlash more than they do about the sport. Its like a bunch of soccer moms betting on thier best dressed kids. If I sound bitter then you might be one of them. Stay Away!! My advice....if you want to do tourneys, do it without the help of a club. If it is a tourney worth competing in, you can do it as an independant. That is speaking from a guy who has done his few hundred tourneys, both from contendor and Admin sides of it. Ryan, don't let this guy even start to sway your interest in talking with a few clubs. I was a member of Ozark Mtn. for 4 years and recently left the club for my own personal reasons. I joined the club to become a better fisherman. I thought at first I would learn a lot from other people. While I might have learned a few things from some of the guys, the monthly tournaments (only a few other boats) ignited the fire in me to compete. I was probably one of the few who really took it seriously and prefished for every tournament, usually alone. This improved my fishing considerably learning through trial and error what works and what doesn't. I'd recommend Ozark Mtn. as a fun, laid back club to fish. I don't recall any vampires being in the club. Most of the members are middle aged dads looking to fish with different people for friendly competition. As for Trav, maybe he should keep his mouth shut when it comes to pigeon-holing everyone around "spankfield". What a jerk. If you don't have anything nice to say...
Trav Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 If I dont have anything nice to say...WHAT? I only report on what I have experianced first hand. If it is a little too much then maybe you belong with those bunch of knowledge seekers. If any of them had any desire to be unique then they wouldnt need to confirm thier status with 50 grand boats and $500 fishing reels sold to them from the adds on the Bill Dance fishing show. Then play off like they arent competing with the Jones. I apologize for nothing when I know it is the truth. I may be a jerk, but this jerk can see the truth as obviuosly as the nose in front of your face. I may be a decade or two seperated from current members of so called local clubs. But I doubt if any of it has changed over the years. I as well learned from them, but only how to pick pecking orders and listen to the scopes of individuals who havent fished a real tourney or guided a day in thier life. They are vampires. Seeking what ever they can get from those who are stupid enough to believe that they have friends. Ealy, You really need to know that just because you think my opinion may be wrong, it doesnt mean it is without validation. Walk a mile in my tired old shoes. Then tell me I am a jerk! Only then can you ever say your opinion trumps mine. Let me add, that keeping my mouth shut, as you so put, is alot harder to do than you think. There is plenty of people who share the same admonitions as myself. And as Phil says, let the dog piles begin. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 11, 2008 Root Admin Posted February 11, 2008 Enough dog piles... one is enough. I'm not going to let this forum become a dog pile.
