jscheetz Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Hey guys, I was planning on coming to RR this weekend on Fri or Sat. Did you get weather there yesterday? And does that effect the river? Not familiar enough with that aread to know if lots of rain causes trouble there or not - anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated, as well as suggestions for first fly/first area to try. chub minnow Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Tim would know better, but the rain yesterday probably wasn't enough to do anything but raise the water level a little. It takes a LOT of rain for Roaring River to flood.
timsfly Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Water is still in fine shape, we got just a bit over 1/2 of an inch of rain. Should be good fishing this weekend. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
Leonard Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Hey Tim.. I know there is some big boys in there now.. there also probably did a per-stock for the first.. How the fishing forcast look for this weekend?? seeing any 8+lbers? http://www.taneycomonights.com
timsfly Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Water is in fine shape, it might have come up a few inches but is still clear. Still 8lb fish around, they are pissy but they are still in there, the high water has been good for them, the snaggers have not been able to get to them like they do when the water is low. Come on over and play, this is the last weekend. The stocking for the 1st will not take place untill the week before march 1st. Fishmeister Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Tim, A friend and I will be heading down in the morning for the day. We were hoping to stop by around 8:00 or a liitle after to pick up some egg patterns and anything else we can't live without. Will someone be around in the morning. Looks like the weather is going to cooperate! Dave
timsfly Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I'll be at the shop after 10:00, I have to fish a bit before I go to work. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
OKFlyFisher44 Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Hey Tim.. I know there is some big boys in there now.. there also probably did a per-stock for the first.. How the fishing forcast look for this weekend?? seeing any 8+lbers? Hey Leonard....lots of big fish in the upper end. I mighta seen a couple of fish pushing 8 lbs but they were hanging out down DEEP in the runs last weekend. Only reason I even seen them was because I was casting to other good fish and would see them move down deep. But lots of 2-5lb fish holding near the top....probably will be different this weekend if the water came up a bit but hopefully it'll make 'em active... Wouldn't ya think so Tim? Oh yeah...got all my big fish on San Juan worms last weekend and the weekend before. Chamoui and Orange were the magic patterns....they were even giving chase to the Orange SJ last weekend. And speaking of snaggers...2 of the good fish I pulled in last weekend had hooks in 'em. 1 had a BIG bugger in his back and another had a HUGE crappie jig in his tail Pretty freaking sad if ya ask me!! Reminds me of when I went to Taneycomo during the Browns spawn...lots of snaggers....grr Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
