Bman Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 When I go opening day,I always go just below the park boundary in the river. All the fisherman stirring up the water, throwing bait, gets the river fish going! You don't have to mind the horn and you have the place to yourself! Unless too many fishermen see ya pounding them then they jump on ya. The only good line is a tight line
Paola Cat Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Good luck to everybody headed down for the opener! Looks like the weather will be good. PC Cheers. PC
rcguy Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Yes, good luck to all and stay. I would never venture on onto the dam but if I did the first thing I would do is have to pee! ( comes with age)
flyfshn Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Great story Rich....thanks for sharing!! Never gone on opening day. Wish I was going....my fishing buddies have other commitments this weekend. Fish On! Mike Utt “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. brittsnbirds Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Was watching the news last night and noticed that the weather is in favor of the opener. I made a grumbling comment to the boss about not getting to go. Her comment was "why aren't you?" If I would have planned on going she would have had plans. Oh well the pop-up needs some work before Spring Break and I need to get myself organized after my winter fishing. I will hit her with my intention of getting down on the 17th for a week of R&R. Plus Dixie Dawg told me last night she was in need of a camping trip. The boss just laughed and asked me if that was my best excuse!! Good luck to all this weekend. Looks like the water level will be a little up. Pat & Dixie
rcguy Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 great story Rich. I have very similar memories. I remember camping near the stream..just down from the rock dam. It was snowy and I filled my hip waders with water right off the bat. Dad and I still had a good time. Must have been about 1959.
