Just wondering if there were any duck hunters out there. Where are you from, what kinda calls do you blow ect. Was wondering how everyones season went this year. Do any of you hunt in OK or KS. Kill any bands or neck collars this year? Im from Poplar Bluff Mo but have lived in Springfield for the last 3 years. I really enjoy hunting four rivers, Schell and Stockton. Local farm ponds and fields seem to be covered in ducks/geese at any given time but it's almost impossible for me at least to get permission. Back in Poplar Bluff I enjoy hunting Coon Island and Otter slough. Well just thought I would throw this out there. ;)

I didn't get to hunt this year... That's the only thing I miss about living in Jonesboro, AR. The duck hunting in that area is awesome!

Since the idea of calls is to get the ducks to come TO you, I don't blow calls... unless I'm trying to scare them away... But I have a few different calls. Nothin' fancy.

My favorite hunting is in flooded timber.

Terry nice to see someone from the bootheel area. Yeah duck hunting in that neck of the woods is unbelievable. I still go back to Poplar Bluff to visit the folks and smoke some birds. Let me know if you ever want to come duck hunting I try to go as much as possible. Over here stockton, and four rivers, along with schell osage CA have some great duck hunting. I don't think that the birds recieve as much pressure coming down the central flyway as they do when they come down the eastern flyway(SE mo, NE Ark.) Therefore they are not as cautious, most of the time it's like taking candy from a baby hahah. Well anyways good to see some fellow duckhunters. Guys keep posting and have a good day.

This is the first year I have duck hunted and experienced limited success. We hunted Shanks and BK but most of the ducks there seem to be extremely pressured. We have a mojo and 3 dozen dekes and my buddy is a good caller, but I think the real key is getting camoflaged. I am an avid bird hunter so, I have to say that shooting teal is my favorite. Man those birds come on quick and dart, what fun. I went goose hunting a couple of times, but to no avail. Field hunting seems like a lot of fun for them and I really enjoyed using the laydowm blind I borrowed from a neighbor.

As for your question, I am from Wentzville and I blow a Echo Diamonwood Timber call for ducks and a Pit Boss for geese.

Thanks for listening and this is definetly a sport that can really get to a guy.

Eaglebluffs and Grand Pass are well within your range also. Shanks was good this year if you got in the right spots. D2 and D3 and the center slough were great. We limited out there a few times this year.

Ya gotta blow a Qwack Whacker. There made in Searcy by a guy with the last name of Doty.

Echo XLT and Echo Timber, pit majic for geese. I had some really great hunts over here this year but overall for this area of the state SW missouri duck numbers (harvest) was down. This was due to the flooding and the depletion of moist soil foods. In other words the ducks showed up on flight days and stuck around for 3-4 days before figuring out hey there is not food here. Duckydoty is right you need to fight the crowds a grand pass and eagle bluffs. As for SE missouri this year was awesome more ducks than I have ever seen, incredible hunting. According to DU numbers this year were up, hope the trend continues.

Cant tell you how it is now, but back in the mid 1990's Council Grove KS Federal Resevor had only one duck hunter family, me and the son. We almost always limited and those ducks were flat stupid or just did not have any pressure. We set up on the north end of the lake, at the back end of a cove, when lake level is low the cove in not waist deep, if high we setup on the point about 1/3rd across fromt heleft in the light blue.

Lots of Canada geese can show up too. There is a road from just east of Keslo, you can see some awesome deer in that area too. I hunted this area very hard for several years.

Most of the Duck hunters from Junction City and Manhatten hunt the two lake nearer those towns Tuttle Creek and MIlford.

There is also a city lake but I never hunted it.

Who do you know that guides in arkansas, my buddies run bustin beaks guide service and have fields around coon island and between duck creek and otter slough, they hammer the birds pretty good, I am fortunate enough to get to hunt with them on occasion.
