My dad and I went on our annual spring weekend fishing trip on the White River. The trip always coincides with the Shawnee/Supreme tournament, which was on Saturday. We fished the catch and release area above State Park on Friday and had a great time fishing the 1 unit of water. We put on the water at 1 in the afternoon and just had a blast. We boated around 60 fish by 5:30, including a 20" brown.View attachment: IMG_0271.JPG
We also caught some beautiful rainbows. Nothing big but the colors on these fish were spectacular.
The hot color was a black and olive 1/16oz jig.
On Saturday, we fished the Tournament, launching at 7am from Wildcat Shoals with 2 units of water running. We found fish immediately, courtesy of a trip I took to the river a few weeks ago. The first fish landed was on the first cast and was a 19" brown...Not the minimum 24" inches but a fun fight nonetheless. We caught our four rainbows and put them in the livewell and started hunting big fish. We found some nice fish, the nicest a 22" brown my dad caught.
2" shy of an $1,100 payout for big fish!!!!
On our other fish, they again had some beautiful color.

Our four rainbows for the day scored us 4th place in the tournament anyway, which I was pleased with considering there were 70 boats on the water. We had a wonderful time and Paula Flippin with the Cotter Chamber does an awesome job putting on this event.
Today, we went back to the catch and release area below the dam because they were generating three units of water, which is incredible fishing for the area. And it did not disappoint. The fish were not as plentiful but they were QUALITY. We caught 18" rainbow after 18" rainbow. I even landed these two 20" plus rainbows, the first was 20" and the second was a FAT 22" fish. The 22" fish was a fighter. A true slab of a fish...View attachment: IMG_0333.JPG
I also got some other cool underwater pictures of fish that you guys might like so I included them here.
