  1. If you want a great place to catch walleye and northern and not break the bank go to Eagle Falls Lodge in Red Lake,Ontario. The website is eaglefallslodge.com and Travis Mack and his wife are the owners. Not only will they put you on fish but will feed you till you bust. They have a cookie eating camp dog named Cosmo that keeps the bears away. We've been there several times and are going back again next August. Weather and fishing are a little more consistent then and the bugs almost nonexistent. Hope to see some of you up there. Pete
  2. Phil that big rainbow was caught on a gold Cleo. I was behind him in line and asked. We had a tough time during the tournament but had a great time met some real fine people as well as ate good. After the tournament I did manage to catch some better fish including a 2.90lb. rainbow on a nightcrawler. She fought hard and Curtis and I worked hard to revive her and she swam away to fight another day. All in all a great day we'll see you again next year.
  3. Well said indeed. I for one agree with you.
  4. My partner and I are in. May not catch many fish but should be a good time anyway.
  5. Next time you're down stop in Lilley's and check out his jigs. Has most any color and size combination you can imagine as well as the heads you mentioned.
  6. Your best bet would be to call Bill Babler and have him take your family for a half day so you can learn how and where to fish at that time of year. Your learning curve will increase considerably. He is good company also and has the patience of a saint.
  7. That had to be fun on the flyrod Bill. Next time down I'll have to get you to show me that technique.
  8. Held our 26th Annual tournament at Lilley's Landing March 7 and were treated like Kings. Kudos to the staff that made everything go so smooth. We will be back next year also. Now for the fishing. Our top weight was 9.76lbs. and the big fish went 2.86lbs. and was caught in front of River Point on a white marabou jig. Fish were caught from Fall Creek to the Landing. Powerbait was the ticket from the bridges down for numbers with a lot of silver bullets pestering the fishermen but the better fish came off sculpin jigs. The boats that weighed heavier strings came from Fall Creek to Short Creek using minnows. Had some of the best fishing in a long time as everyone caught fish and enjoyed the weather and camraderie.
  9. Leonard you did meet me. I sat across from you at the dinner table. You said you were fishing a PMS jig that's what got our conversation going. We discussed what happened to the Brown trout in Taney remember. I would also like to meet you again and hopefully have you show me about fishing at night as that seems to be when the big trout roam. By the way people in my earlier post I mentioned about eating well. Hope none of you thought I meant the trout on tournament day as my intention was that I ate well at the dinner. I knew that it was a catch and release tournament.
  10. Bill if Jim could count to eight we would have done better. He thought we had nine for some reason and threw one out at the dock before I could stop him. Counted one fish twice in livewell. Oh well he's still a great guy and we had a lot of fun and ate well.
  11. Phil as always puts on a great show. This time down I not only got to fish with Bill Babler whom I consider the consumate guide but a heck of a lot of fun to be around. He is also a master jig salesman for Phil. At the dinner I met Leonard a very interesting gentleman to say the least. Had a really good time and will be back next year.
  12. I will third that. The people at Lilley's are great to do business with and they go the extra mile to help.
  13. That ought to hit the spot real well. See you this weekend.
