  1. Laker, I haven't heard that rumor yet. But I'm not sure the trout could make that trip and survive. Maybe they could but I've never heard that before. It's time that the people who are in charge there answer truthfully about what is going on. But with the state of distrust I'm not sure anyone would believe anything they tell us anyway.
  2. Laker, I think they are counting on people not keeping the dinky fish hoping that they get bigger while in the stream. If that is the case they better find a way to shoot trout food pellets around the stream so they survive long enough to get bigger. Either scenario is pretty sad. I generally kinda sit idle while others stir the ranks. I believe it's time some people let the powers at Bennetts management know how we all feel about the sad situation there. This is absolutely the worst I've ever seen. Them you have the local businesses saying how everyone is catching fish. "Come on down" they say. I generally never keep any fish but if I were to keep any to make a meal , it would take about 20 to amount to a meal for 2-3 adults. Absolutely pathetic. I've heard rumors of fish being shipped here and there. Some say Roaring River. Some say Montauk. The weather has dealt us a bad on occasion but this goes far beyond that. I'm sure someone will say how it's all about the economy and other budget shortfalls. I say Bull Scat. Someone at MDC needs to provide answers not just blow smoke up our ..... Well You get the idea.
  3. Fishing is a little tough. Super small fish. I've done OK. The water is slowly dropping and clearing. It should be in real good shape just about the time we gotta head out.
  4. Same here, loaded up, hooked up and headed out.
  5. I'll be down for a week starting next Thursday. Hopefully the water will be pretty decent for fishing., If its not its no big deal as it still will be a good time.
  6. One more week!! I am so ready to get to some fishin. The last trip was pretty well a wash out. I should be headed out and Rollin Wednesday eve after work. 7 nights of nice weather with a friendly campfire BS session.
  7. Shelbyville has a lake from what I remember.
  8. Heck I don't blame you wayne. If the stream would have been down I probably would have fished in the rain. I wasn't in any hurry to get home. The water was rising and it was running pretty good.
  9. Fishing or the campground?? The campground was nice. The fishing was slow., Saturday eve was the best for me. Sunday I didn't even buy a tag. It started raining about 9 am and it poured through the whole time I broke down the camper and hooked it up to leave. Rained all the way back to almost Sullivan MO. Other than that it was a great weekend to relax.
  10. Ok the place is Hidden Valley Outfitters. It is across from the rear entrance on 64 right by the big Niangua bridge. First impression is its very nice. Nice level pad and nice shower house. Full hook ups with drive through spots. Only bummer is that there is absolutely zero shade. I guess it's a wait and see how rowdy it gets with floaters this weekend. I'll report back Sunday evening.
  11. No problem Fishmiester. I'll give a quick review about the new place when I get back or sometime this weekend. Once my seasonal place is done it won't matter but right now the park has been it for me.
  12. Who needs a jump??LOL I'm headed down about 3pm or so. I should be there around 6 if I don't get caught in too much traffic. I'll be camping in the new place across from the back entrance of the park. Somebody has to be the guinea pig. Looks like a little weather is headed in too so make sure you bring the rain gear.
  13. Kim, I may be down one of those days. Depending on what happens Friday I may be down all weekend starting Friday afternoon.
  14. Dnj, You should visit Montauk anyway. It is a whole different world. Nothing like Bennett except for the fish are stocked.
  15. JR is probably looking at this laughing all the way to the bank. There was surely some things that got outgrown at Bennett. But there was also a lot that was done to increase revenue to the concessionaire. I'm sure there are some channels that had to be followed. But if there is someway to influence the higher ups it sure has been carried out there. Will it ever get better? I doubt it. But it still is where I want to be for fishing and relaxing. It's a shame that it could be a ton better if left alone commercially.
  16. They already have people waiting in the wings to continue the money making machine. Sad but true.
  17. 1 More month to go. Time to get home to unpack all my junk from moving then start tying up sume flys.
  18. Don't be stereo -typing guys. Just because he looks like a murderer doesn't mean that he is. He may be a hippie tree hugger. LOL
  19. Be interesting to look up the names on Case Net of the victim and the shooter.
  20. http://www.ksdk.com/news/article/389276/3/Man-charged-with-shooting-man-in-head-during-float-trip Here is what KSDK has on the subject as of now.
  21. I think everyone knew from the start that it was the property owner that did the shooting. What was not known was why it happened. Peope are wacked out these days. Maybe there was a prior altercation that led the PO to think the way he did. Either way it went too far.
  22. Navigable Waters act. It gets kinda tricky in interpretation. There have been numerous discussions about this here and other places as well. I'm not really sure if it is worth aguing over unless you know first hand with regards to experience from a previous run in with the law stating you were right.
  23. I kinda figured this would land home around here as it has been a heated topic in the past. Maybe some good will come out of this somehow. The gray area around private land and public waters is a touchy subject it seems. When all the details come out then we can all decide how to avoid what happened.
  24. This sounds like a bad deal all around. For some reason though , I don't think it will make national news.
  25. Anyone hear anything about this?? I heard it was a floater stopped on a gravel bar that got into it with a landowner. Not much other than that and the male victims wife was also wounded in the incident.
