    Stockton 10/14

We were on Stockton today and as compared to Thursday it was absolutely fantastic. Not even trying to catch them but we got into catfish south of Masters, it was making my wife angry as she hates catfish. A few short crappie, short walleye, pizza and beer for dinner.....but man it was a top ten day!
  3. 'New State Park' is as you would guess, the newer of the two, with the Marina, cabins etc.The old ramp/park is on the west side of Hwy. 215. Good luck fishing!
  4. Good Lord that was good for a few snortles..... I have to buy me a Rosetta Stone. Bob, I'll be down next week for some of that bison. ....and chick fights! yeehaw!!

    Stupid Crap

Hey, Mic. I've been a 'volunteer'/mentor for young folks for a long time. Started coaching soccer for my sons when they were little and assisted in football and soccer as they got older. My skill set was maxed out by the time they reached high school. I also was a Scout Master for several years. One thing you didn't mention was what level is this at. Recreational, competitive or? I'm going to assume recreational. A lot depends on who is running the league or organization. We had years that it went either way. They wanted parents only some years and if the leadership changed it could go the other way and they wanted experience. Come to find out the ones who wanted inexperienced parents didn't want someone smarter than them questioning their authority. Which is bs because this is for the kids....right? Egos can be a detriment.
  6. So how'd you do?
  7. Welcome!

    Hurrah!

I most certainly was not cooking them right. Tried different methods, soaking them, mixing the meat, jerky, I just quit caring for the flavor. Buddy stepped up to the plate and said "you've never had my cooking then...". Dumplings, some kind of sweet sauce, some of the folks raved about it, I just didn't care for it. Goose I can eat. Of course as the years go by stuff that I wouldn't eat earlier in life I do now. Liver, pork cutlets, cooked broccoli.....yeah I know.

    Hurrah!

And there you have it! I love spending the day outdoors in the blind with family & friends. But for the life of me I just can't handle the taste anymore, not that I was ever real fond of wild duck. So that's what I do anymore.....call 'em in and shoot 'em with a camera. Or not. Just being out there with the grandkids is good enough.
  10. Speaking of boat ramps, whatever happened with the vandalism of converters from vehicles in the area....was that legit? Never saw anything in any news source or police reports.
  11. Indeed very nice. The staircase railings remind me of the Grand Lodge in Yellowstone.
  12. We go to Slim's Cabins in Canada. You can drive to Slim's or fly to the closest airport and they'll pick you up. Once at the.lodge you can do one.of several fly outs to different lakes in the area. The walleye fishing is fantastic, muskee too. I'll attach a link when I get home. http://www.slimscabins.com/
  13. We're just hoping to make it down again this year. Been stuck in the Omaha area this summer with all of the flooding. Several of our properties were possible flood victims according to the maps they put out originally but in the end we were okay. Made the tenants very nervous. Heck none of the properties are in any kind of a flood plain. River's receding fast now but what a mess it's leaving behind. Interstate is gone in a lot of places. It could be 2013 for repairs to be complete. Last time we came down the trip was an extra 2 hours each way taking the back roads....patience is not one of my virtues anymore. Couldn't even drive the speed limit there was so much traffic. Going to try and make it to KC for the NASCAR races and then to Stockton after that.
  14. But you have to admit, Bob, that was a cool light. And man was it hot!
  15. Good luck with the surgery straw. You need to get yourself a laptop so you can stay connected while you're in the hospital....hopefully you don't get so laid up you couldn't type.
  16. Help me out here, Mr. Straw. If I'm reading these reports as they pertain to '06 and earlier, one would think the water on Stockton at that time was of comparable quality as LOZ currently. Good or bad depending how you look at it. But Stockton currently, imo, doesn't have what I would consider plant growth to an extent that would support a chain of life desirable for larger fish, does it? Any reports available more current?
  17. When I send my friends to Bob I tell 'em to turn their hat around and hang on. Sound about right?
  18. Pink hats? What kind of strap are the darker camo hats?
  19. Pictures & price?
  20. Cool! I get to ride in your new boat this summer/fall. What's it going to be?
  21. I don't understand the inconsistent height problem. The ball and tongue heights shouldn't change much. Lining up vertically can be a pain. I've tried everything from a tennis ball on a whip to a mirror. Either gets you close. I finally splurged on my new truck and got a backup camera. I stuck a very small dot on the screen so when that dot passes over the tongue of the trailer (screen view) I'm dead nuts on every time. But no, I've never used a power tongue jack. ......and the least amount of success I've had with any 'aid/assist'....is my wife.
  22. You are 100% correct, at least relevant to our area (north of Omaha). Those oxbows were the first to backflood and now have an additional 6'+ minimum over them. Once the river goes down there will be standing water for a long time.
  23. Oh man, I'm having Cheech & Chong flashbacks.... "Dave's not here......."
  24. I'm out also on any fancy decorations in my hair... A. Not too much left on top. B. Little feathers, beads or whatever would look silly hanging in my grey hair. Although MisterT got away with it.
  25. Thanks Bob. Good luck to your family too. If things hold we plan on coming down July 5-10. Have to figure out a new route with I-29 closed.
