  1. Are you getting them on the flats? We fished the mouth of Maze creek for a little while last weekend and only managed some bluegill and a few drum.
  2. Wanting to get a annual pass to bypass the $5 envelope routine, and found the form to send in for $40. Says you can also use a 'America the Beautiful' pass from the parks service, has anyone done that? And how do the park rangers know you have the pass without a mirror hanger?
  3. Back in the game after being boat-less for about the last 8 years. Wondering if anyone is still fishing crappie at night under lights? And if so having any luck? Wanting to take kids this weekend and try to fill a cooler. Thanks!
  4. Muskies yes, they shouldn't have too much of an impact of our native fish, especially in this climate. However, I'm not sure i would go along with stipers not causing problems. Stripers, especially mature stripers can eat a lot fish, and not just bait fish. They typically eat about 1/2 or more of their weight in fish every day from what i have researched and talked to biologists. I have definitely noticed a difference in walleye fishing at Bull Shoals since all these record fish have been making their way through the lake. They can do some damage in certain enviroments. Just my opinion.
  5. I'm not sure if anyone fishes at night, but a buddy of mine has gone 2 or 3 times in the last 2 weeks and 3 guys have limited out in only a few hours every night. They fish minnows under lights in around 15-20ft of water depending on where they are at. The have been fishing around cedar ridge mostly and killing it. Usually have a couple keeper walleye mixed in as well. Just and FYI. Zac
  6. I have fished a couple times the last week or so and it has been slow for me and everyone I've seen. I have been fishing between Orleans and the boat ramp and have only managed a couple of Largemouth and some crappie. I have heard people say they are catching whites further down toward Taylor's bridge. I was hoping to catch the walleye moving in the river to spawn, but must have missed them as i haven't caught any. Sorry i couldn't be of any help. Zac
  7. I have fished between the Orleans Bridge and Aldrich a few times in the last few weeks and have only managed one largemouth bass. I usually have good luck catching keeper walleye in the area this time of year. Has anyone had any success yet? I may just be a little early for the walleye to be moving in the river to spawn. Zac
  8. Hey guys, I am looking for a Remington 870 12gauge with a barrel under 24" long. Prefer Super Mag and full camo, but if it's a Super Mag or regular express 24" and under on barrel lenght I would definitely be interested. Let me know what you have! Thanks! Zac
  9. I would take some 1/8 and 1/4 oz chartruese and white roadrunner or regular jigs with you. I like them with chartruese, white, or silver slidders or swimming minnows, or with about 1/2 a nightcrawler on them. That should catch you something anywhere on the lake, particularly walleye and crappie so you will have some dinner when you get home! Hope this helps! Zac
  10. My wife and I have been having pretty good luck under the 123 bridge near Aldrich. The lake is low enough you can fish pretty easily and catch quite a few fish. If you are just wanting to catch fish there are about a million little drum in there. But we have been catching decent numbers of crappie and walleye and white bass. Just an idea.

  19. I've been having a rough time at Stockton here lately too Straw. Since i sold my boat this winter i have been shore fishing it and i guess i have managed to find the only spot on the lake that holds fish each time i go out. The last too trips i have arrived at the lake bright and early and had at least two or three boats see me catch fish and fly over to park their boat directly on the spot i had been fishing. I know that you are pretty limited in a boat as to where you can fish...but give me a break just move down 20 ft and everything is fine. I just think it is pretty rude to set in a shore fishermans spot. I usually don't have problems at Stockton, but here lately it has really been bad. Oh well, what are you going to do.

    Walleye

Walleyed Mike, Do you use any blades with your slow death rigs? I use them once before i sold my old boat, but it wouldn't idle slow enought to use the effectivly. I am however going with a friend on saturday and thought i would pull them back out as he has a much nicer boat than i had. Before i just used the hook, BB, and about 1/2 a nightcrawler, and tried to drag it along as slow as possible.
  21. Has anyone been catching any walleye around the steel bridge lately?
  22. Good luck fishing with all the oil mess they have dowh there. My brother just moved from Baton Rouge and said we they drove down it was unbelievable the mess that was left from the oil disaster.
  23. Water was high and muddy and the wood bridge was still closed. Fly fished from around 8am to 3pm. Caught all 4 of my fish about the dam on black and yellow jigs and cinnamon wooley buggers. Heard a lot of people catching them on golden brown jigs and flies and some others on orange rooster tails right at the face of the dam.
  24. Caught 4 whites last night from about 6:00-8:00. Pretty slow for me really, but i saw others catching quite a few closer to the Orleans bridge. Water was still pretty fast and muddy, but saw a guy with at least a limit and a couple walleye so they are there. caught 2 on chartruese road runner with chartruese curly tailed grub, and the other 2 on white roadrunners with white/silver swimming minnow.
  25. Thanks for the tip, the water is up and there are some good holes between taylor and orleans to hit. I've got my waders and as luck would have it some white roadrunners to throw. Do u tip them with a nightcrawler or just the maribou jigs? Hopefully i can horse in a big sow in one of those holes. Thanks!
