I have a reel repair shop in Heber Springs I have alot of reels new and refurbished and the best custom rods you can get. My suggestion is to take them to someone who knows how like Me The Green Reel Man. I completly tear it down and clean every part then regrease and oil it as needed when i am done its better than new. While not useing it i would suggest keeping a cover on it until you use it then oil the bearing were the handle shaft goes into the reel both sides. Take off the spool and oil the main shaft then the bail assembly bearings as well thats about all you can do just keep them coverd when not in use and oil before you use.
