  1. Looks like we've turned into a MEball team. GimME the ball and watch ME go! I don't like it and apparently it doesn't seem to be working for the win column either.
  2. I guess it depends on your definition of beater rod. My definition of a beater rod is one that if I break it or damage I ccan replace it for about the same price of a family trip to McDonalds, not Red Lobster but everyone is prolly different. I don't take my Orvis flyrod out in our 12ft aluminum boat but will take my Eagle Claw "beater" fly rod bangin around in the boat. Everybody's different.
  3. I've got more expensive rods but the Berkley Cherrywood is a pretty good beater rod for the money. I always find myself bringing it and using it when the situation calls for it.
  4. Don't play good defense, don't move their feet well, don't play help defense(that's not my man syndrome), nor good team offense. I've never been a fan of the " Gimme the ball and watch what I can do" offense. I love MU but am discouraged with this years style. Frank better get these guys turned around or it's gonna be a frustrating year. Thank goodness we've got some pure talent so at least we'll be in some games.
  5. I hope next year we(MU) are good enough to not let the national bias keep us out of the playoff. If we can fill a couple spots on the O line it should be another exciting year! We always seem to come up with D ends. Fill middle linebacker and Gaines and we will be good to go!
  6. Wouldn't have to leave the birds on the bank. I saw some good lookin feathers in those pics that might make some dandy flies!!
  7. Really enjoy hearing the old stories. Would anybody have any pic of the way it used to look, ie; the wood dam etc? It would be cool to see.
  8. Fished zone 2 Saturday. Around 20 fish all 8-10" except for 1. Anybody think there's any chance now that they've got the pools done the size might increase?
  9. We were there for a one day mad dash fishin trip Saturday. 8 hours drivin for 8 hours fishin. Did ok and caught some fish. Wife caught one 13-14 inches, the rest were pretty small. Sure felt good to go though. Beautiful day but got a little windy in the afternoon. Tried out a pattern for the trout swap. Didn't figure I'd catch anything on it this time of year but caught 2 with it so it does catch fish. Hopefully this trip will tide me over till springtime.
  10. I certainly hope they stay. We had problems with some product and Kelley was willing to drive to meet a rep to get the items replaced after hours. Hard to find that type of customer care and service these days.

Bama's dobbers may be down but it's possible they may want to prove the Auburn loss was a freak deal. The MU OSU game should be explosive and exciting to watch. Good thing it's not for a couple weks. The Auburn MU game was explosive enough for a while.

Agreed! That cr*p is not part of the game.

Thanks for the link. It just reinforces my point. Look closely at seconds 31,32, and 33 in that video. Thats where the shove was initiated and executed. Josey is so far out of bounds you can't even see inbounds! Proof is in the pudding!(or video). I guess everyone see's things different. All I know is that if a player did that to one of my teamates we'd be lookin for him on a legal crackback block and put that Alice back in Wonderland!
  15. Probably right where we belong. The UCLA win was a good one over the 18th ranked team but they were possibly overated. Hard to tell this time of year. A couple of quality wins and we could be in the top 20. The Illinois game should be a good one. Enjoy the game joeD.

Agreed, adjustments must, can and should of been made. Maybe you're not talking about the same play here. Yes, players get hit out of bounds all the time. I think the play being discussed here is when Josey got hit and then 3 steps later was shoved even further out which resulted in him bouncing off the cart corner and not being able to finish the game. Don't think the hit was the question. Nothing crazy about expecting a player to make the decision not to pull a cheap shot like that. I'm old school and love the game of football. Played it and coached it. I love a good "legal" hit. "lighting someone up" with a big hit was fun as well as a pleasure to see. This was neither. Punks pull crap like that. Apparently some of the posters on this thread never played the game. Possibly just stirring the pot. Flysmaiile, I do agree with you that it might not of made a difference in the outcome of the game. But maybe it could have been. No way anyone can say for sure. I'm gonna think about fishing and the bowl game.

What few adjustments we did make obviously didn't work. Sure stinks to have an offense that was good enough to win but get so let down by the defense. It's been a great year and it's not over yet. The final chapter on this team and the success level of this years team isn't written yet. We'll see how they bounce back. OSU has a good offense but thank goodness it not the triple option!

FAF. Purely a play on words. You're right, it was not a dirty hit. It was a totally illegal shove clearly far out of bounds. The cardboard would not of been a factor had the Auburn player not shoved him 3 steps out of bounds illegally like that. Football is a violent enough game within the rules. Don't know if you played football but we would of called that a punka** cheapshot. I just hate it when excuses are made for a player that obviously pulled a chump move! (regardless of who was the recipient)
  19. Saw some good defense at times. I do think we get up against a team with a good in the paint game and it's gonna give us trouble. 3's r nice and u can catch up quick but u can also fall behind quick if they don't fall. Gonna b a fun year Clarkson I think is something really special. Oh yea, and KU lost!! hehehe. Almost a perfect day!
  20. I love fishin dry's and already have a bunch of GGnats tied up. If I had my choice I'd fish dry's all the time, but sometimes I get tired of seein others catch fish wen the dyr's aren't workin so I'll switch it up.
  21. Thanks a bunch everyone. Thats what I was lookin for. Got most of that but will tie some more this week. Thanks again.
  22. Any particular patterns that are your favorites??
  23. As I'm still a newcomer to fishing Taney(you can count the times we've fished there on both hands) I'm still working on building up my Taneycomo fly collections. We'll be down there next weekend and would like some help on what flies to make sure we have. Gonna do some tyin this weekend. Got 4 in the family so I try(need) to take a wide variety. Thanks for everyone's help and input on this forum. The great wealth of knowledge available here has drastically sped up the learning curve on the now going on 20 year long road of learning to fly fish. M.I.Z.....Z.O.U!!!!
  24. Good to hear!
