  1. Looks to be prime for almost anything if the reports of hatchery trout being washed into the river are true...
  2. Photo from 12.28 at Parker
  3. I guess I mistakenly assumed props only. So someone can run an old 2 stroke 25 hp jet jon boat from September 16 to April 30, but a Mokai isn't allowed during that same time-frame? That's kind of backwards, IMO...
  4. Huh? That's not exactly kosher...
  5. You could also consider crossing the river at parker and walking upstream on what are some easily navigated and traversed trails... http://goo.gl/ODGkny
  6. I'd call jadwin canoe and have them drop me in at baptist.
  7. You only need a trout "permit" to possess (or winter parks / tannycomo): http://mdc.mo.gov/regulations/trout-regulations. "Daily Tags" are for the parks. But WTH - it's $7 big ones...
  8. You only need a trout stamp if you are going to keep trout. So, a MO license and you're good to go. You can catch fish throughout the blue ribbon area. You're good to go with what you have for flies - yes, maybe some glo bugs. There's a lot of threads you can lookup on flies. Access spots: Tan Vat, Baptist, Parker and Cedar Grove (where the white ribbon portion starts). There's also a few parking spots near where the park ends and the BR begins, but I suspect those will be filled quick this weekend. River should be back in decent shape by the weekend. Have fun!
  9. I had Mr. Nichols do some dozer work for me ~7 years ago and he told me all sorts of stories - one about a cave that supposedly has some civil war gun barrels in it. Pretty sure I found where the cave is, but the entrance has caved in.
  10. That is a nice piece of land. It has some real commercial value, if that might be the plan for the new owner. And given the acreage, I'd say the price was rather sweet - even if the house is a tear-down. I was rather disappointed when it sold because I had a friend who was putting something together toward purchasing it.
  11. Yep, there's pros and cons to being right on the river with good road access. IMO, the cons outweigh the pros. There are some choice places downstream a bit that are also right on the river like Love's, but that will never become available, or so the owner has told me. Shame, it's wasting away and has so much potential. Same with the cabin at the power line. Those are but a few that are right on the upper current where you could still maintain some privacy and not worry too much.
  12. That's been up for sale for a while now. I'd be surprised if it appraised for that much.

    1-20 Report

Reading a good fishing story always make the work day a bit better! ciao
  14. http://www.jadwincanoe.com/ does this...
  15. Thanks for the 411
  16. There is new ownership at Pinecrest just north of Parker (CR 6520) and they have been doing a lot of work on it. Map - https://goo.gl/maps/TKDqo
  17. Was that you in the Jeep Liberty as I was leaving parker ford to go back up the hill?
  18. Not that it's a common thing to find them, but there are factory blems that pop-up on the market from time to time. The Synergy 12 that I have was a factory blem. Was looking for a yak on eBay and saw it. It just happened to be ~35 miles from my place at the Current so I popped down there and bought it for $135. Still kicking myself for not buying the other one they offered me.
  19. I have had 2 BB whispers, and neither made it more than one season before splitting at the point where the spring loaded lock ball enters the female side (female side broke both times). I checked out the Jackson's today at the alpine shop. Cuda looks like my next yak ticket, but I'm going to test paddle against a few others. FWIW - if you're in StL, the Alpine shop has demo days at creve coeur park about once a month.
  20. Yaks are great on the upper Current. Personally, I have a Mad River Synergy 12 (no longer made). My friends have some different sit on top yaks from Wilderness Systems. Also nice yaks. One thing I'm eager to try out is a NuCanoe. Saw it at the boat show and thought it was interesting...
  21. Haven't been up there, but a friend has. I wouldn't say it's a must that it was acquired long ago because of the proximity. In fact, I doubt it's within park boundaries. As far as prices, yes - they are back up and in some cases are far beyond what they were before the recession. Some listings you might see are pie in the sky asking prices, but anything on the upper current with good access and elec can sell before even being listed - or so goes my recent personal experiences.
  22. Yea, what dude's said for transport. Geez, Gavin - I'd bet anything you have humped more than 3 days supplies portaging the boundary waters?!
  23. April 15, Arghhh! Haven't been down for a few weeks and probably not for a few more. Give me a heads up when you will be down...
  24. BTW, I met Gavin a few years ago. He kind of changed my paradigm on trout fishing on the Current, and that's after 25+ years of fly fishing the parks and blue ribbon areas. Thanks, Gavin. Dude knows his stuff.
