  1. Well, at least it didn't fall on the house.
  2. Exactly. And leave everybody else alone in the process.
  3. But the lot next door ain't vacant. There are thousands of acres of good crop land, most of which have already been planted, and as many as 100 homes.
  4. Dugout canoes were made from hollowed out trees. Maybe ya can salvage it.
  5. Many have and lost.
  6. Or a boat for the next flood.
  7. I think people should deal with what they got and not put it onto other people. If the levee around Cairo isn't high enough to hold back the water there, then they should have built it higher.
  8. With all the flooding going on there, do they enforce a no wake speed limit on Taney so the boat wakes don't make matters worse?
  9. That's what I'm talking about? Why destroy the lives uf others to save others? If they blow the MO levee, and the levees around Cairo don't hold, then what good would it have done to blow the levees in MO and destroy their lives? If your house is flooding, do you dig a ditch to your neighbors house to save yours? Or do you just get out and hope your neighbor will be ok?
  10. The fishing might be great if ya got a boat or money to hire one, but wade fishing is gonna suck for quite a while now.
  11. If you're not going to be casting more than the head length of a WF line, then by all means go with a DT line. The idea of a WF line is that when you are casting more than just the first 40' or so of line(the total head length of the line) you start getting into the thinner running line which will cast smoother and run through the guides easier than the thicker portion of the head of the line. Thus allowing you to shoot the line farther. There is no rear taper to a DT line and no real running line. Also, DT lines are usually easier to roll cast than a WF line.
  12. Yep, that there shows me what kind of a person you really are. The first moron who I had to add to the "ignore" pile.
  13. Wouldn't it just be easier to ship our jobs to Mexico like they've been doing for the last 20+ years?
  14. So now what? Are you trying to call me out to settle this mano y mano? Are you trying to threaten me?
  15. You are reading way more into this than what is printed. He was a presidential appointee but does not work for the White House. He works for the US Army Corps of Engineers. If Bush would have appointed him do you think that he would take orders from Bush? What you are trying to say is like saying that if the president appoints a judge to a federal bench, then all decisions that judge makes are directly from the president. Thats just total BS.
  16. Actually it was NOT the President who decided the final outcome of the levee in MO. It was a federal judge in MO that made the decision. "CARTERVILLE, Ill. -- A federal judge in Cape Girardeau, Mo., has given the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers the go ahead to breach a Missouri levee in hopes of saving several other communities along the Mississippi and Ohio rivers." "The presiding judge, Stephen N. Limbaugh, Jr. is a cousin of conservative broadcaster Rush Limbaugh, who also hails from Cape Girardeau."
  17. Okay. I got 6 Size 16 Caddis Emergers tied up already. Only 6 more to go. PM me with a shiping address.
  18. I was gonna take a run over to the slab today to get some pics, but it started raining again. I imagine a ride over the slab in this high water would be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I wouldn't want to make the Sheriffs High Water Rescue Team come looking for my sorry carcass down stream somewhere.
  19. It looks like the gage for Crooked Creek is up and running again for those interested in fishing CC. Crooked Creek Gage @ Kelly's Slab
  20. I will be in the process of moving next month and everything is going to be a royal mess. Not sure how many flies I can get tied in the next couple of weeks, but put me down for a Size 16 Caddis Emerger. I'll get started on them today. How many flies will we need? Two from each tyer with a limit of 12 tyers?
  21. Well that's all good for you that you can go fishing. The streams here are blown out from record rainfall. Hopefully they'll go down quick so we can get out and enjoy ourselves. But some here would probably see a person of different heritage than themselves and feel their day on the water is ruined because of their own hate.
  22. I say we'd have to start kicking out all the racists and other haters to make room for them.
  23. I did not say the military is to "Deny the rights of others to enter the country." I was asking if that is what your forefathers really fought for. I bet no. I bet they fought to protect the freedoms we have in this country. Nobody said anything about entering this country "illegaly." Where do you get this dung. Go back and read what I wrote and don't add any words to it. Just what I wrote. And if the shooter in question was in Mexico, then there may have been someone else there with a gun. That someone else may have killed more than just one person. It doesn't matter even if he were from Mars. Fact is, he was there and he killed somebody. Then he faced the laws of this country and will now serve a long time in prison for it.
  24. I vote no. How can you destroy the lives of others because somone else is hurting? Why don't they blow the levees around Cairo so that the water there can reclaim the flood plain there and not back up into somone elses yard. Everyone should just get off the flood plains. Every year the Mississippi rises and floods occur. How stupid can people be to just go on living there? If you don't want to deal with the floods every year, move to higher ground. How can it be any more simple?
