  1. So then the fish was a record when it was stocked? I don't believe it could have grown all that much in a few short months.
  2. No. All I am saying is that during a time of financial crises for this country, we should not be looking to cut taxes. We should be raising taxes. No matter how much that's gonna hurt, it needs to be done in order to stabilize the debt and also the economy. And I really don't think it was Jesus who said anything about teaching a man to fish...
  3. First off, nobody (including most Dems) in this country is for welfare payments from birth to death. Not for the poor and certainly not for the corporations (although that depends on what side of the aisle you stand on I guess.) Should the lowest paid earners in this country pay all of the taxes and let the rich and the corporations off the hook because they have paid so much in the past? How much blood money do you think the government would get if we only taxed the lowest 50% of earners in this country? Certainly would not even pay the salaries of those in the government. Corporate taxes. (Not talking small buisness here either.) How many billions of dollars do the major corporations withhold from entering this country just to avoid paying taxes? If they would bring that money back into this country and pay their fair share of taxes, we probably wouldn't be in the financial mess we are in today. Finally, the left is always so high and mighty about their "Christianity" but are the first to put the bible aside if it helps them get richer. Jesus did not say take from the poor and give to the rich. He in fact said "give to the poor." And if taking from the rich and giving to the poor is "communist" then Jesus was the biggest "communist" of all. So when you start bashing liberals and calling them "socialist" and "communist" as a means to belittle them, you are in fact belitteling Jesus.
  4. Well those Kastmasters and Little Cleos certainly work for steelhead on Lake Michigan. Just caught a brown on a Little Cleo down at Buffalo City a couple of weeks ago.
  5. Ain't gonna have to worry about dragging on the Buffalo anytime soon. Gage height, feet Most recent instantaneous value: 28.44 04-25-2011 14:45 CDT Discharge, cubic feet per second Most recent instantaneous value: 54,000 04-25-2011 14:45 CDT
  6. But with the greedy rich people getting the lions share of said tax breaks and less regulation, they are not creating the jobs that are promised. The top earners, the CEO's etc, have seen their salaries increase 400 times as much as the guy working his butt off out on the shop floor. Exxon-Mobil is second on the list of companies earning the most money. Does giving them all the tax breaks they get and deregulation of the industry help the economy any? They are still posting $ billions in profits every 3 months yet people can't afford to drive to work. How is that suposed to get the economy going? Yes, we need to cut spending. Cuts in SS and Medicare should only be done to erase the amount of fraud that goes on. Instead of cutting SS to make it last, keep the bastards in Washington from dipping into the SS trust fund to pay for their pork barrel spending. Getting rid of the cap on SS taxes will also make SS solvent into the next millenium. We need to cut military spending. This country spends more on military than all the rest of the world combined, yet a bunch of poor ragheads in the desert are kicking our superior butts. For what? So this country can go broke and claim to be safe from the very terrorists we are losing to in the desert. When you are going broke at home, you don't go to your boss and say; "Hey boss, I'm going broke and have to find ways to cut my budget, so I need you to cut my pay so I can owe more money to the foreign banks." Cutting taxes in a time of fiscal crises is not the way to fix anything. Even a 1st grader can figure out that math.
  7. Waters up. Should be able to float right up to Praters back door and ring the doorbell as you go by.
  8. And in my book, that means raising taxes. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. When the country is going broke, YOU DON'T CUT TAXES. That is the biggest lie from the left I have ever heard. "Cut taxes and the economy will get better." BS! Reagan did it and the economy tanked along with the deficit increasing. Bush did it and the economy tanked along with the deficit increasing. Raise those taxes like Clinton did and watch the economy take off as the deficit is reduced. Even a 1st grader can add better than some in Washington politics.
  9. You live anywhere near Chippewa Falls? I used to live in Chippewa Falls back in the late '70's. Didn't fish much then though. I do remember Chippewa Falls having some darn good parties though.
  10. Over 4' in the last 24 hours. How is it down by you? Any roads flooded?
  11. Not sure about consent but for blessings? Maybe remind them of the old saying; "What Would Jesus Do?"
  12. Too bad our shitty 2 party system can't work together for the good of all and get over the party line bickering.
  13. For liability reasons, I would highly doubt that.
  14. That is a nice pig! Why would you use ultralight gear fishing a Pop-R?
  15. Hopefully with all the input from OAF, the sheriff had enough and finally informed his deputies of the law.
  16. Same here. If not, then nymphs and streamers always work and you don't need dry fly hackles for them.
  17. I'd rather not tie any flies until the prices come down. Never in a gazillion years would I consider calling PETA anything other than a bunch of a--holes.
  18. Never said all landowners on streams were conservative. I was mocking the other threads that have been popular here lately and used them as a context for my point about what is happening in Washington. Sometimes ya gotta learn to read in between the lines and not take everything so darn literally.
  19. I don't think it's "hot" water they are dumping. A report I read was that the surface temp of Norfork Lake was like 56°. " Since both turbines are down they have had to look at alternative means. Yesterday they opened the sluice gates at Norfork to begin releasing some of the flood water. Some of you may have realized this when the flow recording was reporting 0 units on line, but there was flow equivalent to 2 + units in the tailwater. As an aside, I suggested to the Corps of Engineers last night that sluice gate releases should be indicated on the recording. The sluice gates draw water from low in the reservoir so there was no concern regarding high water temperatures." You can read more about that here.
  20. Shove it wise guy.
  21. So I go out and catch a mess of bass and sell them to you and give you a receipt. Therefore, there is a paper trail and you can sell those fish in a fish market. What a bunch of bull crap.
  22. Because it's so fun.
  23. I would have to imagine that there are already statutes in place. The Supreme Court can only give a decision based on existing law. They can't make the law. So if a decision was made in Elder vs. Delcour, there has to be an underlying statute they had to have used to base their decision on. Does anybody know where to find that particular ruling? I've been searching the www for a few days and keep coming up empty. I'd also like to know what the statute was that they did use to make their decision.
  24. Now and then...
