  1. Now go back and read the second post in this thread. Live it. Learn by it.
  2. Yeah, like fishing this weekend. If anything, fish the pond. I'll bring my fly rods.
  3. Should have talked to the previous owner who sold it, to put it in the contract that you had permisssion to access that pond any time you wanted.
  4. Debarbing hooks, even on top waters and crankbaits is still a good idea. If those hooks were debarbed, that fish should shake that lure free in no time.
  5. Start using circle hooks and you won't have to worry about gut hooking a fish. At least, that's what they say, not me.
  6. Plus ya can get a 12 pack and a bottle of Jack to drink while you're out fishing, or getting drunk if the fish ain't a bitin'.
  7. Nope. Just looked in the 2010 BPS Master Catalog and they don't have them in there either. Maybe Bagley went out of business or got bought out by somebody else.
  8. Now you went and opened a whole can, make that barrel, of trouble.
  9. There is a restriction to outboards being 10hp or less on the Buffalo. I wouldn't want to be the one getting caught.
  10. I wanted to hit the Cabela's up in WI when I went, but heck, I already blew all my money at the fly shop and the discount sporting goods store. I been to BPS twice this year. Both times went with less than $50. Geez I wish I were a rich man every time I went there.
  11. I carry a fingernail file that is diamond coated. It's light weight and small. If you don't want to raid your wifes personal effects, get a small diamond file from the local hardware store.
  12. You live too close. Make it a 3 hour drive and you won't be there every day.
  13. I own 1 Quantum reel. It's an "EX301P" that I bought years ago when I just started getting into baitcast reels. I think it's a piece of junk and will never buy another Quantum reel again. I have an older Shimano "Bantam Black Magnum" that has been pretty good to me. Also have an Abu Garcia Ambassaduer 6501- C3 that would make me buy another one again if I ever gave up fly fishing. Wait... I ain't gonna give up fly fishing. Got too much cash into that and have too much fun.
  14. Next time take the wife with ya to BPS. She'll pick up an anchor and smack ya with it if ya keep spending money ya don't have. I have the same problem with fly shops. When I went back to WI last week, I wanted to drop in the "The Fly Fishers" shop and just say hi and maybe pick up a couple of items I might need and can't find down here in AR. I walked out with almost $75 of stuff I think I might need. I bought a couple of fox tails, one red and one grey. I tied up a couple of flies that might fit the bill for your molting crayfish. Next time wew get together, I'll have to show them to ya. But remind me first. My memory is going fast.
  15. I use Scientific Anglers GPX lines on my 5 wt. The GPX line is a kind of an all around line. There are other lines in the SA lineup with more specifications. For a beginner though, the GPX is usually recommended. If you can get two lines, I'd also pick up a sink tip that will get down to the bottom of the waters you usually fish. A sink tip takes a little more practice to use since it's not lying on the surface, you have to pick it up from down in the water column.
  16. You'd be better off painting one yourself than trying to find one. Of course, if you tied your own flies, you could match it pretty good with the availability of all the different colours available.
  17. Welcome to the forums from north central Arkansas. I'll have to get the map out to see which county you are referring to. I've only been down here in Arkansas for about a year (11 months actually.) I do take up art of fly fishing regularly, although I mix it up with a spinning rod or baitcaster now and then. You should find lots of available info here and with your 40+ years of fishing and hunting in Arkansas, I'm sure you have plenty of info to offer to the rest of us. Again, welcome to the forum.
  18. KC! It was your B-day? Hope ya got out and had a great day fishin'. Happy Birthday to ya!!!!
  19. Try some poppers and buggers. Also tie up some Clouser Minnows and some Gurglers. You can find Jack Gartsides Gurglers HERE.
  20. How right you are. Even if the right is wrong and the left is right.
  21. The point is, that you brought up, was that he put down Bush. I commend Sir Paul McCartney for his brave actions. If more of the stars (who have influence with their fans) would speak up, maybe people would start listening and get it through their thick skulls, that a man who works for some rich snob, does not belong voting for the right to begin with. And anyone who voted for Bush should really be asshamed (misspelling intentional) of themselves.
  22. If he were saying Clinton or Obama were stupid, or a jackass, yes he would have sounded stupid. But since he was bashing that bumbling idiot Bush, he probably made perfect sense.
  23. The water was flowing at around 450 cfs. We did not stop and fish every hole. Most of the fsih caught were caught while we were floating by, stuggling to keep the canoe in position for a cast with a pretty good breeze out there. There were several spots that the water was low enough that today with flows around 350 cfs, would require some dragging.
  24. I remember seeing Bush make a jackass out of himself when ever he was on camera. He didn't even need to say anything and ya just knew he was a jackass just by looking at him. Which by the way caused me to require eye surgery after he finally left office.
