  1. I'll be in the area and I'll stop in and say hi to you NAFF memers. Wait, I am a member.
  2. Unless I somehow missed it, I don't think there was any political (left vs. right) blame for this on this thread. Just the blaming the COE and the FWS.
  3. Some conservation issues can be discussed without politics. A while back there was a thread about some guys in IL dumping crap in the Rock River. We all discussed it and as far as I know of, it did not get political. Some conservation issues are bound to get political like "global warming" due to the fact that the two sides of the issue are either you believe one side or the other. Of course, those two sides are divided pretty much by what side of the ailse you tend to cast your votes for and what news program you choose to listen to for your information. Before you post a thread about a conservation issue, you should think of where it will tend to end up. Will it get torn apart by political lines or will it draw a mainstream approach from the obvious majority of us who fish? If it tends toward the political line, then just don't post it.
  4. I don't think they do any good either, but like I said earlier, what harm can come from it other than my inbox being overloaded with crap e-mails from poiticians. The one thing about the trout fisheries below these dams is that if there is no trout put in the water, whether they reproduce or not, these rivers below the dams would be wasted water. The water is too cold for just about any other species to survive. I do not want to see the privatization of these hatcheries. It can only lead to bad news for those of us who do partake in the fishery.
  5. Ok. I just signed the petition. Not sure if it will do any good, but what harm can come from it other than my e-mail inbox being flooded with crap from the political parties.
  6. Doesn't matter if you voted for the other guy. They still represent you and your input should go a long way. Notice the word "should."
  7. Like some on this forum, I have not signed the petition either. Like you, I don't think it does any good. But it's time for the people to wake up and stop voting for those people who do not work for us and only consider those who pay for their campigns and vacations. Stop voting party and ideological lines.
  8. And then we vote them out and they will learn to fear the people.
  9. With all the problems with getting flies to OB, I sure hope they find their way back to us tyers.
  10. Throw it back. I once foul hooked a huge steelhead, and everyone on shore where I caught it told me to keep it. Nope. Back it went.
  11. Next time, don't overcook your carrots.
  12. If I thought snagging fish was ethical, I might do it. But I don't, so I won't.
  13. State ownership of hatcheries not on radar says AG&FC official
  14. Don't you know that Pete is a psychopathic serial killer? NEVER tell him to "just do what the voices tell you..."
  15. I think this has gotten blown way out of proportion here. From what I've read, there is a proposal to cut funding, but nothing I have read says the hatcheries will be CLOSED.
  16. Words are meaningless unless there is action.
  17. Personally I wouldn't try wading with more than 40 megawatts of generation. You can get the generation schedules here and click on the day you plan to fish. They only update every day around 5:00 for the following day except for Friday, Saturday and Sunday which is updated Thursday.
  18. Social Security and Medicare are not bankrupting this country. They are operating in the black. The problem with SS and Medicare is that since they have such a surplus, congress keeps raiding the SS money set aside for their pork-barrel projects. That is taking away the money that we have paid in so that when we retire, there will be no money for us to retire on. If congress paid back every dollar they stole from SS, it will not be in the news every month as to how to fund the reitiring baby boomers.
  19. Ask at the club house and they might let you fish. But don't get your hopes up.
  20. And who is going to pay to raise these fish since their will no longer be a hatchery?
  21. How does any of this link to Obama personally? Not one site you listed is "Obamas own website."
  22. If these hatcheries go private, will the access to fish them also go private? Will we have to buy another trout stamp to support the fisheries? Will we have to pay a $50 access fee to fish every day so the private companies can be paid for their stocking efforts? All of the above will have a huge impact on the amount of people willing to come to the Ozarks to fish and may even force a lot of us who live here and normally fish the area to not be able to afford to fish. Yes, I own thousands of dollars worth of fishing equipment, but I cannot afford to keep paying and paying just to go fishing.
  23. Did the people get to vote on the Bush tax cuts? No. Did the people get to vote on goinig to war for no reason? No. And that tax in MO for the MDC was voted on by the people.
  24. Now that's funny.
