  1. So will the poacher now get the carcass so he can have it mounted for bragging rights?
  2. I was surprised to see that you can purchase a permit in MO with a CC. Most states only accept cash for permits. And if there are any savings, like the possible $1,000,000 stated in an earlier post, I would hope the MDC uses that money to hire more enforcement officers.
  3. Almost like a switch rod or maybe a spey rod? Is it a two handed rod or does it have a normal grip? I used to have a 10' medium light action spinning rod for steelhead fishing. Nice limber rod and the length absorbed a lot of the shock involved in fighting a fish.
  4. That's the way things are now days. That once 18oz jar of peanut butter is now only 16oz. Looks the same size, but it's actually a slight of hand in the packaging. Ever notice how a bag of chips is less than half full? So it goes with the fishing and hunting permits you buy. Same price, less content.
  5. You got that right. New rope burns more.
  6. The name of this thread should have read "Go Home Chieeeeeeeeefs."
  7. Sorry. My Non-Resident 2010 Fishing Permit from MO has neither. They may be in the system, but they are not printed on my permit(license.)
  8. You're right. I guess I never really looked at it close enough. MO license: DOB, Height, Weight, Hair, Eyes, Gender. No DL or SS #'s. AR license: DOB, Height, Gender, Eyes. No DL or SS #'s.
  9. I've never been asked for ID. Just a license. Licenses do not come with physical discription or photo's like ID's.
  10. Another problem with printing your own license, how is it going to prevent someone from printing several and giving some to their buddys who can't get one?
  11. Ziplock bags still get holes in them. When I go wading, I'm not about to be lugging a dry bag along with me. The MO license I bought last spring is just about unreadable now and I got that at Walmart. It got wet a few times. I carry it in a little plastic pocket along with my AR license. The AR license is good but the MO license is falling apart and barely readable. When your sport takes you around water, things are going to get wet no matter how careful you try to be. Guess the idea of printing several copies and using a fresh one every time you go fishing would be a great idea. And keep one in the car in case the one you have with you gets wet.
  12. I hope I don't live long enough to see the end of the library, where everything is no longer available in print and you have to download what you want to read.
  13. Too bad the driving ranges don't have water holes. You could get out ol' #15 and dodge golf balls all day.
  14. You haven't read anything until you've read "the Illiad" and "The Odyssey".
  15. Great. Go wet wading and get your permit wet, stopped by the game warden, get a ticket and lose your gear. All because the state of MO wants to save a few bucks.
  16. Call me old fashioned but I like to hold a book or magazine when I read. Unless of course it's a menu at the restaurant, a street sign, or the crap I read on the internet.
  17. Why? All ya gotta do is get out the .22 and shoot it then call the MDC and tell them you thought it was a threat to your cow, llama, pet, child...
  18. I use a 9' 7wt exclusivley for all my smalmouth fishing. I could probably get away with a 6wt, but the 7wt does a better job of casting the bigger flies I use for smallmouth. And if you catch an 18" smallie, you'll be glad for the backbone of a 7wt.
  19. I've tied tube flies for steelhead/salmon and for smallmouth. I use the HMH adapter in my Renzetti vise. It's really no different than tying on a hook. The tube will give your flies a greater diameter than a bare hook which I like for tying crayfish patterns for smallmouth. I've seen where people have actually tied dry flies on tubes. Not sure why though. For streamers, tubes should work great. You can tie them in the round or in a standard wing over pattern. Some patterns may spin on a tube though. Experiment with each pattern and adjust as needed. For weight, add a cone to the front of the tube. If you Google tube flies, you can find all kinds of patterns and tips for tying them.
  20. Possibly only 2 rod/reel choices. A 9' 7wt and a 9' 9wt. A 9' 8wt would fit the bill to make it a single choice, but right now all I have are the 7wt & 9wt.
  21. I used to think Wild Turkey was a better choice too, but I used to get too drunk on it so now I just stick to beer.
  22. I used to watch a lot of fishing shows on tv. Roalnd Martin, Jimmy Houston, Bill Dance... Now the only fishing shows I would bother to watch are fly fishing shows. Can't wait till I can get my own place and have control over the tv. But then, I'd rather be out fishing than watching some tv show anyway.
  23. A picture is all it takes to show someone you caught a fish. I have several fish that I had mounted. All of them have special meaning to me. Some I wish I would have just released, some could not be revived after release. If I were to catch a big smallmouth, I would hope it would survive after releasing it, but if not, I would have it mounted and hung on the wall.
  24. I signed on to tie 24 as there were 12 people who joined the swap. Might be 20 if everyone keeps dropping out. OB, got any updates?
