Lilley- Just faxed you what I can add! There are several others that I don't know ie "suzy hole, bluff hole"? Pat

Don- You've opened a thread dear to my heart. I'm by no means a BBQ King but I hold my own. I prefer (so do most of my friends) Blues Hog. If you are into sweet sauce I think it beats KC Masterpiece hand down. However I also like a peppery sauce also. Blues has several sauces but their sweet sauce is my all time favorite. They just came out with a Tennessee Red Sauce that I put next to the smoker when I'm pulling the Pork Butt off. As I am tearing the shoulder apart we dip that hot hog into that Tennessee sauce and ahhhhhhh eeeeeeeeeeeeey it's goooood as that old creol guy use to say. The company listing is from Perry MO. If your into dry rubs I prefer Squeal Hog Rub. I use it on all my meat and fish. It has a sweet start and a little kick. It's made by Cowtown BBQ Products in KC Kansas. I'm always researching different smoking techniques and would like to know your pattern for brisket, ribs and shoulder. There are so many different rubs and sauces it could make your head spin. BTW have you seen the price of full briskets lately? I just bought some from Price Chopper last week up hear on sale and paid 1.49. It's getting crazy. My system is; Brisket- rub down with Squeal day before smoking and put in a plastic bag on ice. I sometimes inject it with apple juice depending on the fat content. Smoke with hickory for 14 hours or so at 200 to 225 degrees. I spritz the meat every couple of hours after the first 2 hours with apple juice. Pork Butt- same thing as the brisket just not as long. 10 hours or so. Ribs- full slab, pull membrane off back rub and put in bag day before. Smoke for 6 to 8 hours depending on if they are pulling back from the bone. Sometimes I slather them with sauce sometimes I don't. Depends on who is eating. If the CEO is they are dry! Everything comes out black usually from the apple juice glaze. I cut all that into "brownies" or chop it for chopped sandwiches. Then carve the brisket and pull the pork and were good to go. All heat is in-direct with plenty of water in a tray. If I open the smoker I want to see my glasses glaze over from the moisture rolling out. Would like to hear your system. Pat aka "MacDaddy's BBQ"

I need a good semi low mileage car for my daughter. I need great mileage, low maintenance, and something that will get her through her last year of high school and 4 years of college. Any suggestions? We have a couple of used car lots but they all seem to have units that appear to be run to death. Pat

I would love to take you up on your offer. A google map would be great I could try and convert it to my DeLorme map 2007 for my GPS. Thanks Pat

Waterproof Watch

I have been using the Timex Ironmen with the alarms and timer. You can get them pretty cheap at WallyWorld. There are several models ranging in compass units to the cheap-o's. I have had this one for the past 2 years never had a problem except for the bands falling apart. I don't take mine off even in the shower. Pat -
This question is for anyone but I bet Gene K knows the answer. Just below the gps coordinates that Gene gave me in a previous thread for Parkers Ford there is a large bend in the river, big bluff and a large boulder in the middle of the pool (at least there was). Does that location have a name? It is a beautiful spot with the bluff and stream snaking to the south. Also there is a little stream/creek feeding into it from the north. Any ideas what the stream name is? I would love to learn that area better but have not had the time to really get down there and hike around. Finally picked up GPS so that I can mark things like this and find them again. Also I remember on my way down to Parkers' from Montauk I stumbled onto an old homestead named "Nichols farm". Gene if you by chance have the coordinates to that I would appreciate it. I don't know why but I could not find it last summer. Thought is was on the CR that went to Parkers. That area has to be rich with history with all the old places, old school house and the river. I love just nosing around and wondering about how life was back in the day down there. If anyone has an opportunity take the hike back they might enjoy reading some of the plaques that are at the home site about the Nichols family and look at their old place. I think the State if not County have taken it over and trying to keep it up some what. Pat

Thanks Gene- Tried to find it last year and could not. Had a fuel pump go out on my truck down there 2 years ago and had to walk out 7 miles in the dark. Got a tow from a super guy from Licking. His brother works at the shop at Montauk. Did a great job fishing my truck out of there without a scratch, great driver. Said he knew that area like the back of his hand. I believe him. Pat

Gene- How bout the gps coordinates for Parkers Cross? Pat

Have fished it a couple times. We started at the spring and worked down stream. If the stream is clear you can stalk and sight fish the holes, behind boulders and under root wads. Zebra, rusty and primrose midges are great choices. You can either "high stick" or run them under an indicator. If the water is low you can get away with rolling your waders down to your waist. I have not fished much more than that portion of the park. Then you have everything below the park on the Current. Tons of fishing, nothing like the other state parks. Pat

Water Clarity At Trout Parks
brittsnbirds replied to TroutRinger's topic in General Angling Discussion
I would disregard BSP for a month or so for sight fishing. It was very dingy last weekend, green tint, clarity was about 1 foot or so. Barely could see the bottom in 3 foot of water. Main/deep portion of stream is bad. It will take some time for it to get back. Spring is still spitting dingy green water. Pat -
Hit the water around 12 on Friday. Paola Cat gave me the heads up but was slightly successful on a white mini jig that I refer to as "gut fishing". However I have been corrected to identify that particular pattern as a "freshwater shrimp" lol. Nailed a few down below the arch bridge after PC left, on the south side with the white and a JD. Fish definitely still down deep. Saturday evening I decided to try stripping some cracklebacks with full sink line up by the spring. Hit them about every presentation. Very subtle takes, no rod rippers. Headed down to just above the dam with some other fellows and stripped CB's deep. Again, fairly consistent fishing. Sunday tried the mini's up by the gauge house with NO takers. Switched to CB's above dam and got back into the action. Looks like the water was clearing and the deep stripping was in order! Pat

Mike- Who you getting them from? Your local guy or someone else? Pat -
Terry- You did it! You brought a tear to my 52 year old eyes. Where have those days gone? My wife and I have conversations about this particular subject, kids being kids. In fact my youngest daughter (17) was just saying the other day how she loves to hear stories about our escapades when we were kids. She even complained that it wasn't fair that the world is the way that it is. Thanks again Terry for the stirred memories! Let's go fishing!! Pat

jj, you laugh but that is what it was during the first flood in March. The parking lot pattern was chartreuse and red dot glo balls or chart. black woolys weighted heavy or 1/8 oz crappie jigs in bright colors. You had to scrape the bottom!! Just think if this kind of weather occurred in the winter. Colorado would be envious!! Pat
-
Raingear? At this rate you need a ARK, start rounding them up boys! Pat
-
PC- Right now it looks like my boss and I will be down there the morning of the 16th. Will have to sleep a couple hours having been up all night. Then hit the stream. We will be in my truck and have Dixie with us!! Check out Weavers site. Brenda posted a BULLETIN last night. It is up 22" and plan for more rain. This year is definitely a bust. Pat

NoLuck- Just tied one of those bad boys. OMG, they are gorgeous. That flashabou just jumps out of that V Rib. I covered it with Sally Hansen and it shines like a diamond in a goats a#$! And I just realized that V Rib isn't hollow, but one of the other types is! thanks for the recipe. Pat

I'm game. Will watch for a date that you guys decide on. June is crazy but may be able to jocky some time around. Pat
-
NoLuck- Duuugh, that makes sense, using the V rib to make a better/taller profile! Thanks for the info, will try to put a couple together tonight. Have you ever filled the hollow v rib with oil? I've read that it gives it a very distinct color. Have not tried it but may have to. If you have not drifted this little jewel below the arch bridge at BSSP you might try. When the water was down, before the great flood, I was on the North side slinging a black and white ribbed zebra midge down through the riffles. Found a break on the south side where the gravel bar dropped off into the deeper water. The fish were hanging on the bar waiting for food to come buy in the faster water. Did really good there. Ahhh, those were the days. Thanks again!! Pat
-
Rich- Little confused on your instructions, I'm more of a visual person. Do you tie your v-rib in at the bend with the flashabou? Put a base of black down, then flashabou, then the v-rib and tie off? Or are you wrapping the flashabou over the v-rib? Sounds similar to a little unit that I tie. Thanks Pat

PC- Your killing me!! Setting here watching these stupid camera's dealing with these WOUND up kids! Only 16 more days!!!! The boss is pushing real hard to go down on the 16th instead of the 23rd. Once I clear it with the war dept. I probably will go down with him instead of the 23rd. Looks like I need to check my #20 Black Caddis supply. Pat

Duuuuude- Your getting way to technical for me!! I've got that little thread, pre-emerger that I showed you and RC on a 18 or 20 scud hook. Dead drift then swing into them, wooooooo, I'm getting excited. Wonder what color the pre-emergers were? BTW the boss came by and wants to go down on the 16th. He and I have to work after graduation that is the 15th. Not too happy about staying up all night on 15th to 16th then driving down that morning without any sleep. Plus I just realized that the next weekend is a 3 day. I can not get down there until later on the 23rd anyway. Earliest would be around 3, latest 6. Pat

PC- Your running the wheels off of that little truck! Glad to hear that the stream is clearing up. Did you see Weavers topwater report? Still hoping an attempt for 5/23 - 5/25. Pat
