  1. Great, I am out on the road for 2 or 3 weeks and now they start to feed...leave a few in the lake for me.
  2. I have seen a lot of advertisements for cheap spinning reels with 10-14 BB lately. Walmart has a cyber Monday ad for them with no brand name attached, just YB4000, or 3000. Amazon has them for the same everyday price, I have seen people on Youtube taking them out of the boxes and showing them off but can't find any real reviews. Anyone tried these reels, looks like $20 and free shipping for a nice spinning reel, but then $20 for two trips would be a waste. Just wanting to get a review by someone I know fishes a lot.
  3. Got out later today and fished until dark around Horseshoe, could not locate bait so I fished with a ned rig mostly. Green fish were plentiful but small 12 to 14". Shad seemed to be around 30 feet deep and spread out, a few big balls here and there. Not much moving shallow yet, water temp was 60 to 59. Pulled shad raps out in the open where I saw schools hanging out around 10 feet with no takers at all. Ran up Monte Ne and marked nothing, some bait in the back but too shallow to get to, less that 2 feet of water back there.
  4. Well so far I count 3 fishing one holding a purse?
  5. My plans now are to hit the lake and turn the phone off all day....anyone else skipping sales to fish?
  6. Trophy fish they shroud turn on the back of creeks by Thanksgiving when the green fish get used to the cold. The only thing a ned rig rig got me last time were cats and few 6in spots. It has been tough all over.
  7. Thanks Striper Junkie and welcome to the Forum.
  8. Did anyone get out and fish the cold front? What was the water temp?
  9. There are a couple of below freezing mornings coming, that should get the shad back into the creeks at night anyway. Once those shad start grouping together the stripers will also. Those fish can move over 30 miles a day so the same fish you see at the sidewalk hole could be at the dam the next day. Right now with the water temp the same all over the lake I think that is what is going on. I can find a shad ball here and there but I have not found any channels with football field size of shad gatherings yet. That is when you know where the stripers will be when you know where the food is going to stay.
  10. Got a few hours this afternoon and ran around PC looking for some shad. Wind was up too high to see any shad except for those breaking top and all were too small. I threw the net at the little ones hoping for some big ones to be mixed in no luck. Trolled around between the islands no luck there, got up on plane and ran right through the only top water action I saw all day. So decided to beat the bank with a ned rig and all I got was a 8lb flathead and broke the hook on the ned rig trying to get out of his mouth. Looked for some deep fish or shad to spoon and could not find anything along the channels. Really different than this time last year. Note to self, pick up bait on way out next time. Back of cove at RT12 boat launch seemed to have bait, but it is too shallow to get a boat back there. Water temp was 64
  11. What is the water temp? Still around 70?
  12. I went out Tuesday, saw some fish on the screen by point 6 that disappeared real fast, no bites. So I went down by point 10 and could not even locate a bait ball. Cruised between the islands as it was getting dark and saw nothing only to read on here someone hooked a striper at the sidewalk hole when my thought was all the fish were up North. So I am of no help to anyone, anywhere so I will be quite now.
  13. Shhhh!
  14. I have noticed everywhere electrical lines cross the lake there seems to be shad and fish under them. I have even talked to guides that have said the same thing, especially when the water gets cold. Does anyone have an answer to what attacks fish to electrical lines? Is this just my imagination and is something else like brush piles that just happen to be in the same location that is attracting the fish? Maybe people use the lines as a land mark to throw out their brush piles?
  15. Darn; I knew I should have bought stock in Cabela's, J-Doc is on his way back there again..........
  16. Thanks for the info, that blows my mind since I have seen zero around PC and that backs my theory there are Stripers that don't run all the way back North in the Summer. I think they hide in the deep around Pt 12 or the water intake since I always see big fish deep there in the hot months, but it is hard to tell what the are. I wish I had more time to get down there more often. As far as straightening hooks I have had some flat heads do that to me down there while bass and striper fishing that is why I asked if he saw the fish. I would love to see the video, is it on Youtube?
  17. Just following up to see if you tested those on new lures on the Lake and how they worked?
  18. Thanks for the information and the visit !! Sorry about the NICE weather, seems everyone but DAN is in the same boat. I will post pics when I get on them. Dan has the eyes of an eagle and can find the shad and fish every trip so next time FIND HIS BOAT, I have tried to follow him before but his boat is faster than mine and he moves around A LOT.
  19. I am really surprised there are any that far south. Did he see the fish? I have always heard that some stayed around point 12 all year, but the sidewalk hole is really shallow right now, Seems strange they would run up there when the water is this warm?
  20. Sometimes they get dialed into the shad and even if you use the wrong shad they won't hit. I have been stuck in that loop myself, try to find some gizzard shad in the back of the creeks early they seem to be candy for the big fish. I have not even had the small bass look at my brooders, good luck and try again when water temps are in the 50s that is where they turn on, Anyway it runs the shad up into shallow water to find warmth and the big fish follow and are easier to find. Everywhere I have been from point 5 to point 10 the water was 70.3 degrees from 100 feet to the back of coves, with no reason to go shallow or deep there are just too many places to look and like you have found they don't stay in one place very long. I think I will just wait for a good freeze.
  21. Will try to get there also, if you see a black and white Nitro come over and say HI, then go somewhere and find fish because where I am is where they were yesterday. LOL
  22. Do you ever try the BIG pencil poppers?
  23. That was your problem, with the plopper it has to a Ranger hat turned to the left......
  24. What hat were you wearing?
  25. Thanks, I really like your color choices. I will give it a try.
