  1. The creeks in Rogers have slowed down and generation has stopped the rise at 1126 but with the cold front and thunderstorms coming tomorrow it does not look good for stripers. It will only take one good 2-3 inch rain next week to put up over the flood gates. There is not one in the forecast, but that could change quickly. I really don't like the floodgates being open because the mudline goes all the way to the dam when that occurs. What happened to the draught?
  2. Looking at Bella Vista golf course from 71 yesterday looks like a good place to put in the boat. Creek is almost up to the green, so same difference in fishing and golfing today. The water on the golf course had a better color than that in the lake.
  3. It is showing one day break here then .21 to .5 inches daily for next 7 days. That is enough to keep us on the upward climb. No sun also means slower to clear and the striper season will be really poor fishing for 75% of the lake. Netting bait and fishing brown water is just not good striper fishing and just kills the hope of 35lb plus fish when they should be the easiest time of year to fish. On the other hand less stripers that end up in a freezer are bigger fish for next year.
  4. The creeks on the rise..here it comes.
  5. Sounds like a good trip, I tried fishing the mud around Horseshoe Friday and could not mark any fish or find any shad. The Muddy water seems to have them all pushed North. Strange year, again.
  6. I had an uncle that kept and made rings and other jewelry out of the rocks from the drums head. They are very pretty and supposed to be good luck, but he died of cancer so I am not too sure about the good luck part. My Mom had one and a rabbit's foot when she died from a police officer running into the back of her SUV, I discarded both. Maybe catching a drum is not good luck.......
  7. You think it is muddy now, if the forecast holds it looks like a week of rain on the way. Looks like a up to the floodgate event coming soon. I really don't care for brown water, hoping this forecast changes. I really hope the Corps are watching and start some heavy generation soon.
  8. I just read this again and something hit me, You work???
  9. Monte Ne is a good place to bank fish, I have hooked stripers, whites and walleye throwing off the point behind the old hotel. Quick easy drive from Rogers to wet a line. Really hit or miss but have never not gotten a bite when I was just driving around checking water color.
  10. You have to love that Ned, put my drop shot worms out of business. Great photos Quill, thanks.
  11. No reprts of whites or stripers spooling you down there this year?
  12. Well that is 7 feet in one week now that it is over. Anyone got eyes on how far up the mud has spread?
  13. It could go either way, but once the sun returns and the flowing water is warmer than the lake it should bring in the shad. Having all the food up shallow is always a good thing, but cold muddy water is bad. I still think that the bigger fish will move in to feed up from their winter hiding spots, I look forward to throwing a cast net anyway.
  14. Some water running out of the creeks will bring the gizard shad into the creeks and start a feeding frezie! But too much mud will run the stripers back North. 1 inch or less per day should be just what we want, I will be watching the weather and running to the lake during the first break in the rain. My personal best on everything has been in Feb in weather like this, 35lb striper, 8lb bass, 8lb Walleye. Wednesday looks the best but cold.
  15. Looking at weather report there won't be any calm water next week, looks to be a spring type rain coming and muddy waters coming.
  16. Even online they seem to not be able to get the size or color I want then cancel the backorder when I can find the same thing around here no problem. If they no longer carry an item, why do they still have it for sale on their site? Seems to have gone to a clothing store, lot better mark up I guess.
  17. Any big fish down there stealing your minnows?
  18. Is the whopper plopper any good?
  19. Since the Government shut down will they close the boat ramps also?
  20. Is no one fishing? Maybe no one is catching? Sure is quite.....
  21. The idea of all the Cabela's returns and clearance left overs in one place really makes me want to make more trips to Springfield. I never found anything I needed except for line a few times at Cabela's bargain cave in Rogers, but I always find a lot of bargains at the Bass Pro Outlet. I have noticed that Cabela's prices have come more in line with Bass Pro's prices also, Cannot argue with lower prices.
  22. Just wondering if anybody fished the tournament today or has been out since the cold front moved in. What is the water temp? Is there any ice forming? Are the shad starting to die?
  23. Big cold front coming in, I would suggest dropping something small right in front of their face. The shallow water will start to cool and freeze first so I think trees in deeper water and fish holding tight to cover. But if the sun comes out and shad are dying they could make a run up shallow. Good luck and dress in many layers. One thing I can tell you, anything you learn in 57 degree weather does not work when it hits 14, also IMO spinning tackle is easier to bust Ice on then baitcasters just because the guides are bigger,
  24. You could be right and the Cabela's discretion is wrong, that would explain the $200 difference. Thanks I just thought that triple shot meant GPS, Down and side scan according to the description. After looking at the Lowrance web sit I figured out that Triple shot only refers to the transducer not the unit. I almost pulled the trigger on the wrong target. All these choices are getting confusing......
  25. Well I had four of these and the last one came in today. That is 60 days from the time I put in the online request. The first one was only about 20 days then 20 days for two more, then this one today. I guess they were checking to see if I sent them back? Anyway I have had reports within my company of success and failures of trading these in at Walmart about 50-50 some Walmarts will exchange some won't. I have had drivers take it to one Walmart and be turned down and then drive two blocks over and the next Walmart took them. If you are still holding on to a bad one, I would suggest to trade it soon or dump it and buy a new one.
