  1. Swepco is under Other Ozark lakes, I have posted there several times with little or no feed back. Never mind just went back and realized you have to add the name of the lake in "other Lakes". Still most people who fish swepco are also Beaver Lake fishermen, so posting under Beaver probably gets more attention.
  2. Try the points in PC right at dark and you will find the whites. They holding deep until dark for some reason, with bluebird skies seems the shad are holding on the bottom but early morning and dark they will black out your screen then the whites will feed. I have not hung around much after dark but have a feeling they feed all night. Hooked a good fish between the islands last Sunday, pretty sure it was a large stripper but threw the spoon before I could wear him out. They are there and will hit cranks and live bait it is just a matter of timing and seems that bright sun warming the water is not what they are looking for, strange late fall pattern. My rate of catching whites is only 4 or 5 a point but they are around not grouped very tight though. The shad are happy anywhere in the lake with water temps in the 50s, but will run to the back of coves when the deep water gets to 45 or below since they die off around 41 and will need that sunlight on shallow rocks to survive. I did notice a mayfly hatch at dark and believe that is what draws them up at sunset. But I am not going to wish for cold weather, the sun and warm weather and watching ducks and deer with no gloves on is just as good as catching fish. If you do find a large school, please share your pattern....
  3. I agree Jeb, but I have a Bass Fishing site that people blame every small motor or truck problem on E10 and they range fro Michigan to New Jersey. They are also still dumping in Dry gas so guess I was just voicing frustration in the wrong place. I remember when they took lead out of gas and it caused real problems with the engines we had at the time, but everyone seemed to accept that much better, but when they found out that the replacement additives were more cancer causing than smoking and ethanol was safe and much greener all I heard was complaining and government control ect. I have been driving an E85 Truck now for 12 years( though I don't burn much E85) and have trouble believing that that and industry as big as the outboard motors have not caught up on the fact ethanol is in fuel and have not used the proper lines and gaskets by now.
  4. Not to down anyone's belief system I just put 0 confidence in "manufacturer's recommendations" since I know marketing and know everyone has a price. If one more mechanic tells me the factory rep won't pay for an engine repair due to me not buying oil at their shop or a certain brand I will record it and sue the dealership. Every Ford gas cap between 2006- until the BP Oil spill recommended BP gas but I know there is zero difference in BP, Shell or Exxon gas and funny how Ford changed their mind when BP got negative press. J-Doc I know it is not PC but people have been killing brush with gas and desiel long before Walmart or Home Depot were thought of, and after it seps into the ground you can't light it. Just make sure it is somewhere you never want grass to grow. Before EPA was so strong I dropped 10,000 gallons of Jet fuel from a helicopter due to sling loading in a cross wind and all we did back then was wash it down it with a fire hose and the grass grew back the next spring. If you really need to get rid of a few gallons just bring it to me and I have a $25 lawn mower that I don't care what I burn in it and you can mulch the leaves in the back yard if it makes you feel greener. Guess I just never had the money to worry about a lot of "old gas" since I have trouble affording "enough gas" just to get through the day and have always brought the boat home dry. But I have pumped out a gallon or less that sat for a while(like a year) and the old push mower never complained about it. The real funny part of this everyone told me I need to add "dry gas" when I lived up North for almost 20 years and now those same people complain about "ethanol" and both are just another way of saying ALCOHOL so someone make up my mind does ALCOHOL remove water or add water to fuel because every product that "removes water" is just alcohol. If any one needs to dump alcohol my truck burns E85 and I will except all the Ethanol you need to dispose of.
  5. Weed and grass killer, I have an old oak trying to grow back under my shed and I have been feeding it my oil changes and old gas for 10 years and it still sprouts out every spring. I am with fishinwrench on this one as far as Stabil and their like are snake oil, if there was a magic additive that would keep gas from getting old the fuel companies would use it to stock pile more fuel. Save your money for the pump, if that gas has been sitting too long, pump it out and put it in the lawn mower can or just ditch it and spend the money on GAS not magic potions, this is not about faith stick with the facts.
  6. If there are more LMB and fewer spots and spots are not growing wouldn't it make more sense to put the limit on spots up to 15in also?
  7. That is funny because the last two weekends on Beaver I have seen the biggest spots I have ever seen on Beaver, two today over 16in and one last week over 16 in and all fat. Not that they represent the typical Beaver Lake spot but was just thinking to myself today that the spots were getting to look like the Table Rock spots. I can't remember catching spots over 3lbs on Beaver but that is all that has turned up for me lately, I thought they were getting better and bigger with low water and big shad populations.
  8. We do really appreciate your time and effort and the expense you have paid to give us this resource. In the spring I have used your weather station to see how much warmer the river was then the North end of the lake and if I was being beat by a North 20 mph wind in Rocky Branch there is no other resource than a 30 mile boat ride to tell me what the wind was doing down south of Hickory Creek. If you ever need help with a good ladder and some free labor just ask, I owe you. No reason to apologize for the weather station being on the water since that is the info we are looking for... plenty of info out there on what is going on at airports but I don't fish airports....
  9. Big Cliffty is actually actually a big spring and feeds water year around and is a cool spot during hot summer months.
  10. The operator of the station will be on soon to explain the operation of the station his screen name is "kwhelan". If anyone has any pull with admin to get him in quicker please do, he is a great guy and can post updates from the river end since he lives on the river. Let's all give him a warm Ozark welcome.
  11. The Weather Station is back up...http://ws.beaverlakeweather.com/wx.htm
  12. That would be a meanmouth to be weighed in here in a tournament it would have to be green, but I have seen a lot of brown meanmouth in Beaver lake. It happens when small mouth and spots bed close to each other.
  13. I heard there was a man living there that killed his family with an ax........sorry it is almost Halloween.
  14. With low water I am assuming it is a dry hole.
  15. I was back up closer to PC between the Islands and found lots of whites in the 35 to 45 feet of water range on a jigging spoon in the afternoon. We did pull some crank-baits around the 15 foot level and got one 16in mean mouth, 2 large whites and a 14in crappie but the big schools were much deeper. We had to move a lot to keep on the shad balls but once we located big shad balls the action was fast. I did catch one striper but it was not much longer than my jigging spoon, but he was trying to move up the food chain. Ran to the back of the coves and there are no shad or fish in the back despite a good wind guess it will have to get cooler to push them back into the coves. Surface temps were around 63 degrees the big fish will start moving when it gets down to 50 degrees.
  16. There was one that used to work at the Ranger Dealer in Rogers, I don't know if he is still there but sure they would have his card.
  17. I don't know anyone who has fished it on a regular basis that does not have a 10lb bass story to tell. The whites seem to be really good over there too.
  18. I have never fished that far down but have hooked some nice hybrids using the stunned shad floating on top the water down near Houseman's, they are always good size whites to be caught in the river also. Surprised there were spoonbills this time of year.
  19. The problem with Bass guys are they are chasing checks more than chasing fish and don't care very much for friends. I lost a few friends by fishing a tournament with one and another friend won, that lead to 3 not talking to me again, must have been my fault. I fished clubs back when it was about fun and sharing knowledge not about making boat payments and everyone fished out of what they could pay cash for since then you didn't borrow money to have fun, and we had had clubs to have fun and the checks went back to the club funds most of the time for pizza and beer. Well at this point my kids say "and you walked to school up hill in the snow".
  20. Well it has been 1111. something for a while and the fall rains have just slowed the drop. Any new thoughts on how low she will go? We should have some good brush when it comes back up.
  21. I will 2nd that one.
  22. I wouldn't consider it "History" since the project never got finished and is only a couple of years old. More like a display of wealth that fell through and became an eye sore. Sort of like a broke down stretch Hummer in your neighbors yard.
  23. Has anyone found it on Google Earth, I looked for it but could not find it. I was trying to get an address and google it to see if it was a commercial site.
  24. I've pulled some big ones out of the trees and my wife got a 8lb walleye on a drop shot there. It is a great cove during the spawn but most of the time I find the fish tight to the deep trees. It is hard to get down to the bigger limbs without handing in the smaller limbs at the top, but well worth it when you do. I thought that was part of the 15 story condos that was being built there a couple of years back and fell through. There were a lot of law suites over people selling their property cheap because they were building those condos then when they fell though they were mad about selling and so forth. That went up at the same time, and never got finished so I always assumed that was it. http://www.arkansasb....aspx?aID=99082 http://www.sydnessarchitects.com/portfolio/residential/grandviewheights.htm
  25. They could be running from the drought...not many ponds to feed in this year.
