  1. This is a debate I have had at work, thought I would get some opinions here. I work in transportation and we give the drivers cheap flip phones for company business that can't be locked. Several times I have had State Police(Texas every time) call me because I put my number under Emergency on every phone, I did that for the driver to call in case of Emergency. Over the past couple of years I have had drivers involved in head on collisions, two heart attacks and one stroke and got calls as soon as the medavac was taking off. The question is when I tried to get the managers to do this (they are on the road 60% of the time) everyone refuses to take the keypad lock off their phone. I personally don't lock my Iphone and have my wife under Emergency. I find this is the first place Police and hospitals look for information today but not even the FBI can crack a smartphone code to get your information if you lock it. If I am unable to give information I want the first responders to have all my information and to me that is more important than someone being able to read my text messages. What are your opinions on locking your phones and why is it so important. Where else on your body are your phone numbers?
  2. Gravel and grubs always go hand in hand especially on table rock, but weather the Keitech is a grub or swimbait is still up for debate. I have always thought pulling a grub along the rocks was imitating small crawfish, but there are times the smallmouth want silver that to me says shad. Weather a small mouth can tell the difference or even cares about the difference in crawfish or minnows feeding in the rocks I don't know but I do know that dragging a grub along the gravel gets spots and small mouth on Beaver also even in the heat of the summer at night. I like fishing grubs over bigger jigs with trailers due to the exposed hook and I don't have to react and set the hook as hard or even set the hook at all with small sharp crappie jig heads. You will never catch me on the lake without a bag of smoke, copper and black grubs at the ready. But the Keitech and ned rig are replacing them for me more and more.
  3. Aren't there some good spots around there for peacocks also ? I always wanted to fish those on top water, looks like a blast. See if you find this girl while you are down there, she is my favorite fish show.
  4. Do they take the old motor on trade and did he offer a good price?
  5. I have tried all the shops near here and never got a motor running right, so traveling sounds like the only option.
  6. I have expanded my shopping and seems Suzuki is the lowest price and weight and has lot of boasting over Merc, Honda, and Yamaha on their advertising but I don't see many on the water. Anyone have experience with one? They seem to run about $3k less than ETEC.
  7. I just saw on the flood warning that between 3-5.5 inches of rain has fallen in the past 24 hours. By my crude estimate that should translate to a 3-4 foot rise in the lake in the next 24 hours. That will mean opening the flood gates and muddy water and trash moving further North. For those that like flipping I guess this is good, be careful on plane since muddy water hides big logs quite well. Any thoughts?
  8. I just saw there was 1-3 inches and flash floods. How many more trees is that going to float down the lake and how long before it hits the flood gates this time? Will the lake muddy all the way to the dam? Might not be days of this but as full as the lake is, I think it will be enough to set back what little clearing that was going on.
  9. I disagree, LM and SM are popular sport fish due their willingness to hit large easy to cast lures. I would have to put carp ahead of bass on being hard to catch on the same rules bass fishermen apply. try to go out and catch five carp on artificial lures. I would have to put drum and catfish up there to if I was to try to catch five under the same rules bass tournaments put on anglers.
  10. recipe.krtsy.com Prepare largemouth bass simply to let its natural flavor shine through. Bake. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. ... Broil. Turn on the broiler. ... Grill. Spray your grill with nonstick cooking spray and turn the heat to medium-high. ... Pan-Fry. Coat the bottom of a skillet with olive oil and heat it over medium-high heat.
  11. I have always had better luck putting a trap in the creek by my house, but haven't tried in few years. Anyway my "secret" spot was near the bridge on 24th street near Hwy62. There is a walking trail there that makes easy excess to the creek.
  12. I think I found your shirt at RB. LOL Good repport.
  13. I could see the bass moving in for the mud bugs in the newly flooded areas around brush, that brown water makes me dip the plastics in Chartreuse die on the tips anyway. I don't know how much it helps. I am not a good flipper but with all this mud you could flip with braid and not worry about the fish being line shy. That would help me anyway since I tend to flip into the trees more than the water. Looks like more rain coming this next weekend so the mud will be here for some time to come.
  14. Ron is was just a little south of you near point 5 and had top water action from about 6:30 to 7:30. Some of the biggest bait balls I had ever seen. The wopper plopper was tearing up the bass but I know there were some stripers hitting top that would not hit it. Everything was chasing 3-4 inch shad up to the top in 70 feet of water. I threw a ned rig out and caught 5 small mouths feeding with the green fish. The big small mouths were feeding under the spots were you would expect large mouth. Strange year. I am going to need a new trolling motor battery to pull anything but bottom bouncing for eyes does sound fun, I tried spooning rocks for awhile with no success. All the fish I was marking were in deep water suspended, I could not find anything relating to the bottom.
  15. It gets to the flood gates at 695?
  16. They can try to hold it back but two inches of rain and it is over the dam no matter how anyone feels about it. I hope there is plenty of room in Bull Shoals.
  17. I just saw were they stopped generating at 5pm last night just as we were getting this rain. Makes one wonder, is because Table Rock is not able to handle it right now?
  18. Sounds like big blade spinner baits and chartreuse will be popular for awhile. I wonder what that mud does to the depth fish will go?
  19. I know exactly what rod you are talking about, I will check. Thanks
  20. I understand what you are saying Fisnwrench, it is just the same thing every year. I have tried every mechanic around same old thing, they clean the carbs tell me what a bad job the last guy did and talk about how bad the plugs were even if I take it in with new plugs. Then it idols fine, comes off the trailer great, always has then I run out 10 to 15 miles, fish for a while and it is start up and jam into gear before it dies. I am so tired of sinking $800 a year into carb rebuilds and it never runs any different. I am also tired of paying $75-$85 for people to throw away my new plugs that are $4.25 at O'reileys.
  21. I am playing with the idea of upgrading my 2004 115hp Merc to a 2016 4 stroke 115hp. I don't need a new boat just tired of carbs and smoke and plugs fouling and such. Has anyone done this locally? What would be the trade in on an old 2004 beat up 115? Any point of contact or advice appreciated though I am not wanting a new boat or trade for someone else's problem. This is too go on a 2004 700 Nitro wondering what the weight difference is?
  22. I am really surprised there are whites and stripers in warm water that far south right now. I think most of the big stripers are up North now. I got a top water hit by a big striper on point 5 Sunday but it did not hook up. It hit right at the boat and knocked the wopper plopper clean into the boat. Thanks for the report

    FLW

That is one good example to set, fish through the thunderstorm. These "professional" fishing tournaments did so much good during the 80s and 90s to further catch and release and good sportsmanship but now I feel like they have gone the way of the WWF and it all about money now. I guess if they get someone killed it will just increase viewership.
  24. The raising water will make the bass beds deeper and harder to see with the murky water thus protecting them from the FLW. This spring might not be good for fishing but is just what the fish ordered.
  25. I don't think I ever saw over 2 feet rise in a day, and the river water is not even there yet. Look for all that trash to hit Mid lake by Tuesday. It will be a good year to be selling props.
