  1. Anyone need a backseater? Not promising to boat much but will share cost if that is what is holding someone back. If you have to run 70 up to the darn, don't bother i am cold blooded.lol Just send a PM if you need a back seater.
  2. You know you can't troll...LOL
  3. Anyone fishing the polar bear 1 Jan?
  4. I use a very small hook on 4in worms on drop shots alot and on a drop shot there is not a hook set just weight then reel. That accounts for most of my deep hooked fish, but that was not many this year, way too busy flying around the country on work this year.
  5. For me it is the color I left on the shelf,,,,,
  6. More to the purpose, you can run slower at higher rpms so you don't foul out plugs on two stroke motors.
  7. Jeb I see your point in theory, but in reality I have two problems. One is that I have had my livewells checked on Table Rock several times and never on Beaver not even when fishing a tournament and never by law enforcement on Beaver. So 1st if people want to take home hundreds of small or large bass of Beaver there has never been anyone around to stop them IMO. 2nd point is most people go to the lake to play, get high and very few people have a work ethic to gather food and do the work of cleaning and cooking fresh fish. I have seen people from other countries that do move here and will make use of any fish they catch but I would have to say I have seen more bald eagles on the lake then people who want to eat fish and the eagles fished 3 or 5 times a day compared to the people who fish 3 or 5 time a month. In short it is my belief that Americans are too lazy to get out and hurt any population of fish with a pole and frying pan and with the amount of time and effort spent on enforcing fish and game laws around here changing laws really makes no difference except who gets a check in a tournament because those are the only people on the lake I have seen that read the laws. I saw a young boy netting up stunned bass right after a tournament weigh in at Beaver and his Mom helped him load them in the car and that kid took 50 bass home that day right in PC with two Rangers watching and laughing about it, so I am of the opinion that anyone who wants to eat 8in spotted bass has been doing so for years and the change in the law was a waste of time and paper, just like most laws when there is no enforcement. How many times have you seen people cull fish in PC during a tournament and throw out dead ones because they had too many fish in their livewell? I have seen that every weekend and lots of nice legal fish floating around for the rest of the weekend. IMO killing 5-6 lb breeding stock for a check is hurting the lake much more then eating 6-8 in non breeding fish. I can't tell how many small fish I have killed on Beaver due to deep hooks and if I can give those to someone who will make use of them now, it might make me feel better, but I am lazy and will probably continue to throw them back.
  8. I think the main reason for taking out spots is to let the large mouth reproduce without mixing with a spot half breed. So eat all those little spots you care to clean.
  9. Cold front and muddy water s never a good sign unless you are wanting ducks to move south.
  10. Sounds like a shad die off might be coming soon...the shad will run up shallow before they die.
  11. If you head over to the Dam Store on the road leading up to the dam they will give you plenty of info about the trout fishing.
  12. 50lb or 100lb braid if they wrap a tree 30 feet down you have lost a bait...but if you want to catch bass in the cold you have to work close to those trees because Mr Largemouth won't come out very far to get it.
  13. A day late and a dollar short should be on my Grave Stone.
  14. OK went to Academy to buy TWO at $20, the guy behind the counter said they sold the last one for $20 an hour ago...but they had two for $29.99 left. Well I looked at all the numbers on the sale tag for the $19.99 ones and the $29.99 and they were the same.....so I tried to get it for $19.99. Well the one for $29.99 was a little lower profile by .0001 of an inch and so forth so I gave up and headed to check out with the last $29.99 reel. Got to the front and the price was $65 with tax Well that is where Mr. Dixon flashed back to SFC Dixon and I let loose on the poor little check out girl who started crying and ran for cover. The manager took me to the side and looked up the reel on line and found two prices one for $59.99 and one for $29.99 and said I had the $59.99 in my hand so I told her were she could place it....then she said she would give me the $29.99 deal to get me to leave. Nice reel, but don't look in Rogers for the price deal and I may need someone to go to Academy for me in the future.
  15. I searched all the reviews I could find and found nothing negative. Here is a review by a very trusted reel repairman. http://www.ultimatebass.com/bass-fishing-forum/index.php?topic=85681.0 I will check to see if they have any more in the am, think I need at least two now.
  16. The web site still has $29.99 in my book that is $30, are they down to $19.99 in Rogers?
  17. That must have felt like a monster reeling in a smallie with a snagged lure and line attached.
  18. I am a couple rods ahead of reels so put this on birthday list for next week, thanks for the idea.
  19. I bet the walleye are catching on!!
  20. If they are not we will open them....
  21. Oh you didn't use "perch" for sunfish or brim or blue gill that are in the same family? just my pet peeve.....then you did say walleye which is a perch, where lg mouth bass fall into sunfish category. Or did you find a yellow perch in Beaver? I have seen them in Bull Shoals but not in Beaver. Then again I refer to all small sunfish as "bluegills" and get corrected all the time.
  22. Doesn't take much light they shut down those OK mud holes all the time for algae blooms...
  23. Yea free diving with a weight belt in a lake you have not been to very much and 100 yards away from his buddy....what could go wrong...."it's a safe sport"....no matter how you do it? Driving a car is safe, checking your email is safe but put the two together and it might get risky...just saying. If anyone swims from my boat I stay on the boat with a ring and rope and my life jacket on and if I HAVE to get in the water when I am alone it is with a life jacket. But I guess there is nothing to learn here, people do what they want, when they want to do it and most of the time blame the government when they get hurt. In my day we went to summer camps, learned to swim a mile before being turned loose and had weeks of training in water rescue before getting behind the wheel of a boat or getting canoe even. Today you make a 13 year old walk a mile and it is child abuse. You can't teach rules like "never swim alone" because it is against someone's beliefs. I don't believe in more laws and more regulations but there is never too much training and that is what we are missing but guess what it is hard and hurts so lets not do it.
  24. That is just the right amount of chop on the water, great pic.
  25. If you see a trout line in daylight hours cut it and get it out of the water, unmarked limb lines cut and take with you. This is not hurting someones fishing it is helping people survive. Jugs floating around in the middle of the day, they are lost and need to be removed. Never Dive alone and learn to act as a team or die alone it is not a safe sport but then again what is, bass fishing along side drunk teens in wake boats?
