  1. I always try to obey all regs but missed the one about the fire extinguisher being mounted in the open. I had one under both seats and almost got a ticket. I don't have a flair gun either and believe they are required on Beaver but no one has ever brought it up. Heck this time of year if you don't have ice and water in the boat you should be locked up for your own good.....
  2. Glad to see they made it out alive and there aren't anymore lost bodies in Beaver. My wife hates to troll because she is afraid of discovering one....
  3. Is that right outside PC? Did you check with the Benton County Sheriff to see if they were aware of the accident?
  4. Sorry to hear that, I always had good experience there, I feel guilty for recommending them now.
  5. Does anyone Know someone who applied for a job there during there interviews that has received a job offer?? I am just wondering since I interviewed and have not heard anything yet.
  6. No real spring rains and temps hitting 100 this early? You know they will pull water to meet electricity demands due to the fact we all like to stay cool. I need to get out to PC and see if I can recover some of my lost lures.lol If we loose a foot a week I see it getting to 1110 by August then the real dry spell hits and Beaver Lake starts looking like a river. I don't think it hurts the fishing, in fact getting the bait and fish together in one place helps IMO but we seem to loose a lot of old timber when it comes out of the water and have even seen water skiers out cutting tree tops down when they come out of the water. So anyone want to start a pool? I see a new record for low water this year and some foul tasting drinking water in our future.
  7. I like J&J Marine in Lowell, low overhead no pretty girls to answer the phone everyone there has grease on them but they don't have to make money to support overhead. They do most of the work outside so might be slowing down in this heat. (479) 770-2161
  8. There is a small cave in Noel Mo that is very close and inexpensive, probably a 100 yards at best but very cool on a hot summer day and didn't cost very much for a nice tour. Not one I would repeat, but glad I took the wife and kids once, then you can get a hamber and fries on the side of the river and watch big small mouth run out and feed between tubers.
  9. I usually grab a couple hours in the boat....lol
  10. Midnight to 6am.......
  11. You should try a Sunday tournament...I have had spots during the week were I had no problem getting 5 keepers on on one point and 5 points like that lined up only to find 5 boats on each of them during the tournament and tubes circling the best spots. Pre fishing I would line up a 25lb bag then struggle to find two 15in fish on Sunday. Sounds like you having a good time in the river......
  12. Don't forget Gander Mountain, great sales and probably just as big a fishing department as BPS but not sure about the fly selection there.
  13. I think it is based on population, seems the smallest section of BPS is the fishing department more clothing than anything else. Guess that is the reason Las Vegas has had one for years and Arkansas hasn't had one. I wonder if that is one that was rumored to be coming to NWA?
  14. I've talked to a lot of them over the years only a handful I could spend 8 hours with and would not want to chance that to a draw.
  15. All I saw on the "show" was A-rigs and a spook, I don't remember either one being talked about during the tourney.
  16. No one really brought this up, just noticed it was on my DVR. Not really that interesting since it was so long ago, but didn't have any problem recognizing areas from Horseshoe Bend down past point 12. I was really surprised how many were throwing an A-rig and how small the baits were on them.Don't remember that much talk about the A-rig during the tournament but 80% of the fish I saw caught on the show was caught on an A-rig. Just made me a little mad how they went on about 5lb bass being so rare on Beaver when I have had spring days were a 5lber was my smallest of a 5 fish bag. If they were catching 7-8 lbs then I would agree but there are a lot of 5lb bass in that lake and it doesn't warrant a pro status when you catch one. Any thoughts about the show?
  17. That pic sure looks like PC to me.....how many were keepers? Any slabs on the crappie?
  18. I remember back in the 90's they could not get Walleye to hold in Beaver with little fingelings, then about 2003-2004 they raised a bunch of eyes up to 12-14 in in the Nursery Pond before releasing them and since then they have taken off. What has happened that the smaller fish can grow in Beaver now?? None of the fish and game could understand why they wouldn't take back then. My take on this it is the natural spawn from the adult fish and not stocking that get fish to hold in a lake, since there were thousands stocked before the adults were added that never held. Stocking helps I am sure but not as much as people observing the limits and releasing spawning fish back into the lake.
  19. That is a beautiful boat, love the color pattern.
  20. Sounds like a great day, and glad to hear you got your new boat Quillback I know you have been waiting a long time to get it in.
  21. I know what you mean, those river fish act a lot different then the fish in the main lake. I am amazed how shallow they will stay when the water gets hot. It is just hard for me to run from PC to WE without hitting a dozen or so holes on the way down. Guess I have a little ADD(squirrel!!) If you stop on that cliff right past the power lines on the right hand turn you will find plenty of spots on a drop shot all year long......they seem to like to stay near deep water and chase the shad balls.
  22. Nice fish! From PC to War Eagle is a good run, how far up WE did you run? Did you fish any of the old foundations across from the water intake on the way down?
  23. You said he was using a brown jig, just curious what color jig were you flipping? I like to use those little 1/8 oz jig heads with no weed guards and a twin tail zoom trailer instead of a full jig anymore on Beaver just because it improves my hook up rate. For a little more bulk I will switch to a hula grub but I shy away from full jigs just because I get so many tics that I don't get the hook in when the water gets warmer.
  24. Pushing water out of Beaver does very little for lake levels down by Holiday Island where it starts to widen out into a lake, you will see on your depth finder quick when you run out of the channel. It winds from the right side across from Holiday Island to the left side as you get down to Beaver town. It only takes one slow run and you will get the hang of it. You can call a day ahead of time and get the generation schedule, if you at Houseman's when generation starts you can follow the 50 degree water back to Beavertown and shad will lay on their sides on top of the water.Grab them up, put them on a hook with a split shot and throw toward swirls and no telling what will hit it....trout,whites, walleye, largemouth and they will all hold up in the same hole.
  25. Lowrance has a free map of Beaver on their web site and it includes a good map of the tail waters all the way up to Big M.... http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Mapping/Enhanced-Lake-Maps/Downloads/
