  1. Happy Birthday, Champ!
  2. We had some topwater action down here at point 5 last night in our creek pockets. Not huge fish, but 2-3 pounders (and smaller) chasing on top...LM, KY and SM. Caught several on a spook right before sunset. Had a few nibbles on a drop shot worm out deeper and plenty of lookers but they never would commit.
  3. There are good fish in Goose Creek but it fishes pretty tough. I have not been down there this year, but last year we caught fish up to 6-7 pounds in the spring. Lots of little fish, but several healthy ones too. They have a Tuesday night tournament (see results of some of them on here). There is a slot limit. The dredging has begun I believe with an optional fee since it was voted down. Again, I haven't been there this year but I hear it got better in the boat ramp launch area. Cheap lot and close to home...nice to have somewhere to go that is close where you can run the boat (225 HP restricted).
  4. I tried the War Eagles with the laminated fluorescent yellow and purple blades under a black light. Those dudes sure light up the clear water. Didn't catch a fish on them even though I had about 10 attack the lit up BLADE (under the new moon the other night). I need to switch to a straight black one and see if they'll actually eat the whole thing.
  5. I wonder if they ever look over the side at point 7 and see those tree tops they're running through? That would pucker them up (maybe). It's just a matter of time, unfortunately. I was out quite a bit the week after Memorial Day, rained every day and never saw a wake boat! Pray for rain!
  6. Dodged the rain clouds long enough to get the little ones out. Just about every secondary ledge/small bluff we could find would hold these 1.5#-2.5# bass. The kids had a blast catching them with wacky rigged worms. We fished around the main lake, point 5-6 area. Little shaky on the second picture, she wouldn't hold him.
  7. A guide would be great, but fish the cove around by Indian Point Marina in one of their kayaks and you'll catch plenty of everything. Start with a grub on the gravel point and work your way back with a senko around the docks and the bushes/ledges. That's a great cove and always has fish. Plenty of room to bank fish that cove too if you're stuck without a boat.
  8. He said he was up the James but didn't say where I don't believe. Square bill in a tree top was reported...
  9. Same here...we caught probably 30 keepers but our biggest was only 2.83 (worth $100 though). Had a 2.62 and a pair of low two smallies. Fished around point 5/Spring Branch. Caught the larger one on a spook early. Great weekend for sure and the tournament was great as always.
  10. Fast Freddy's in Branson West has ethanol free in premium. Right next to Sonic.
  11. I use Navionics HotMaps Explorer with Google Earth to view/save/export/import waypoints. You can do it all within HotMaps and then dump it to a card for your unit. It has the Google Earth plugin so you can see the satellite images. I think the program was only $20?
  12. 7lbs 10oz in early March 2005...was fishing the CMN tournament or something?? Didn't get big bass though! Did get a nice replica made though since I'll probably never get another one like that! Was fishing with my Dad so that made it nice. Caught it really early and couldn't wait to get to the weigh-in.
  13. Don't forget bats dive bombing you at night and you just catch them out of the corner of your eye!
  14. Well, found two jerkbait fish anyway. Fished around the house today (point 5/spring branch) from 12:30-3. Tried to find some deep fish but couldn't find any. Moved to the south bank, main lake channel bluff and let the wind push us down the lake. Had the boat sitting in 30' with 80' off the port side, paralleling the bank and throwing deeper diving jerkbaits around timber. Tried the grub at first but no takers. Switched to the jerkbait and caught a couple right off the bat, no size but it was a great day and got to watch the eagles soar overhead. Headed back out tomorrow and will probably head toward Kimberling and maybe further.
  15. Awesome!

  19. No, you do have to own a lot though (or fish with someone that does). The boat has to be registered there as well. Lots are pretty cheap and what you spend in gas going to other lakes pays for the lot. Certainly didn't post to try and sell lots, just something close to home that is cheap to do and gives us our fishing fix during the week.

  21. I had some Bass Pro points one time and got one of the big 5" Strike King spoons. I fished with it in the winter mostly to slow the fall of the spoon and did well over tree tops in the clearer water. I think it was like $10, so without points, I would have been looking for a different brand. I used the chartreuse shad color on chrome. They do have some good looking colors.
