  1. Never fished Big Hill, but I've fished Bone Creek. It is a nice lake. If there is one of their tournaments on there watch out because they will buzz you in their boats(jerks). A buddy and myself caught some decent bass in there.
  2. what Doty says. One thing that works for me there is to use a long leader and if you use an indicator put it closer to the end of your fly line. You are fishing for wild trout not stockers. I have seen guys down there put their indicator three feet above the fly and only catch small fish if any. Not saying you do this, but throwing it out there. I mostly cast tungsten weighted nymphs there to get on the bottom. Been awhile since I've visited this board much less been trout fishing. Haven't been since last spring. I'm thinking maybe this weekend or in the near future heading down to crane. Love that place.
  3. Just wanting to know if anyone has seen any spawning activity yet? Maybe this late cold weather has it running late? It seems that it usually coincided with turkey season.
  4. Can't wait to get my wolf licence
  5. That is a good day when you can sting one over twelve inches at crane. Good job!!
  6. I agree that most any nymph will work. I've caught them on several other styles, but the squirrel for me is the best, and I have some friends convinced as well. I don't just only use squirrel in the pattern. The only difference is the tail and I use woodduck flank which gives the tail more of a segmented look with the bars in it. My best fish to date is a 19" caught last summer there. Hooked several others that were even bigger. Good luck Sunday. Wish I could make it down
  7. The only fly you need to fish crane Red squirrel nymph beadhead sz. 12&14.
  8. I was there 2 weeks ago and water level was perfect. Caught about a dozen with the largest at 12" Saw one in a foot of water that would have went 4lbs easy. She ended up spooking before I could get a cast to her.
  9. I found a gold mine for bass fishing!! And you can't get there from here. I will say this, it is in northern missouri, and it is on public ground. You have to walk in a ways but it is worthit!!! I've been there five times and have never seen another soul. No bait buckets, trash, etc. First time caught 25-30 bass and nothing under a pound. With the biggest caught being 6lbs. Missed a couple I know were in the 8lb. category. All on buzz baits. Just saying that if you search for it, you can find it.
