If I had deep pockets I would get one in line with the Pentax and a GoPro BOTH. But I don't Eric, you think it might pay off to wait for the new model of GoPro to come out? Dollars to donuts says it has a built in LCD. You might get some info if you shoot em an e-mail and ask if one is in the works?

Since this old post was resurrected, any news? -
I had seen these also when I was poking around on Amazon. I look forward to hearing how you like it. It looks like you are pretty handy with a camera judging by the photos you've posted. hmmmmm I was almost completely sold on the Pentax until this post. Al is right though, @ such a low resolution if you do much cropping your 4x6 print will be as boxy as your GoPro is . Also, with the GoPro by the time you add an LCD screen and all of the other needed accessories you might as well buy a DSLR that shoots in 1080 and a waterproof case (with extended warranty of course ).

People act like it has never snowed before. We made a trip to Wal Mart last night because we did enjoyable things Sunday afternoon instead of our normal trip to the store for the coming weeks groceries and about 65-70% of the shelf space where the "staples" are kept was bare. Thanks to everyone freaking out there wasn't even any hamburger for me to have a sloppy joe tonight! I made it to work just fine in the AWD Commander with the 1-2 inches of sleet we have received in Springfield and out here in Nixa. The only time I spun any was on the way to the sitter's when my son asked if mommy told us not to do donuts! Guess I will have to stop by the store on my way home for some burger.

Oaf Winter Fly Swap
Trout Commander replied to Outside Bend's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
Sorry for being the hold up guys. I intended to tie the last few yesterday evening but spent it tending to a projectile vomiting four year old instead. If you guys don't mind the delay I can have them at the post office before the mail man tomorrow. OB - Can you pm me your address and what all a newb should include (besides some goodies for the host)? -
Is said show a television show or an internet show? If it's online does anyone have a link?

I assume that the Pentax has the standard threaded port on the bottom for tripod mounting??

Hendrix Outdoors Website

I agree with DD - the individual pages feel awkward and clumsy. I do like the angle you all are after though, it would be nice to see some different than the typical thumbnail with text directly below. I think it would work well if some space was added in between from one product and description to another, or possibly putting a box around the image and description both? The boxed in option may be just as clumsy in itself. I would also personally like to see some additional pricing listed on the accessories page. There are a few items I have some interest in but I am in the "If you gotta ask its too much" camp. Also people shop online to avoid having to ask questions like cost and to save time. I hope you take this as helping constructive criticism - I like the site overall and it looks great for a first public launch! -
Al, I am envious of you in more ways than one. I hope that one day I have the skills and am in a position in life where I can take solo, unplanned trips such as this and have them go off without a hitch and find the successes that you do. However, I am confident I won't ever be able to paint the pictures that you - with colors or with words. Thank you very much for sharing.

Here they are gang. Something smells funny, and it's not just the Amish. My take from this is that 100% MDC doesn't care if mtn lions get killed. Period. They do not care about these cats. End of story. In the documents it states that ONE of ELEVEN hunters that shot stated he was "scared" not afraid for his life, just "scared". The previous killing eagle because you were in fear of losing you life analogy in the other thread was a slippery slope theory at best, but now that the precedence has been set that you only have to be "scared" to kill a protected animal, where will it really stop? Additionally, the second shooter of the lion NEVER states he was even scared. He heard someone "shoot and yell "lion"". At the lion's passing of shooter #2, which was a stated 20-30 yards away, the lion had OBVIOUSLY chosen flight over fight. At thiat point it is pretty apparent that shooter #2 was trying to kill the lion just to kill it. (I understand how even after the lion chose flight someone could logically be afraid for their life, but it would be a completely different circumstance of the lion running straight towards you - not parallel to you at a distance of 20-30 yards. It is also interesting to me that there was a report made to the land owner (and shooter #2) of a lion sighting in the fall -> they go on a predator drive in the winter -> shooter one "yelled out lion" on sight -> 11 hunters gang up and shoot the lion. ...But it was self defense . I am drooling all over that Pentax w90!

But only a popcorn fart in the wind compared to a shot entering somewhere on the cats backside and exiting the front with no powder burns plus any indication of where the angler fell and where the blood was spilled. It would look more like a revenge killing. Care for a bigger shovel?

Some of your wild trout postings had me jonesing for a trip myself! That reminds me, I need to follow your blog with me new account since I switched the blog over. The pics that are posted on this thread were taken with the 5mp camera built into my Sansung Captivate (Galaxy S Android). Any others on my blog were shot with out little Kodak point and shoot. It is 10mp but nothing fancy, 3x zoom etc.. It is an Easy Share I believe, I will report back with the model. It would definitely be inexpensive enough for a river camera but it is pretty limited. I am really pleased with the pictures this camera phone produces! I wasn't going to post these yet, but since we are on the subject, would you believe my phone took the attached pics of the sz16 Magic PTN I tied last night for the fly swap????? Not great quality as far as pictures of flies go, but I was blown away that a camera phone could do that! The darker copy has only been resized with no other editing, and the brighter copy was then "Auto Fixed" in Picasa. Thank you, and now you know why it's taking me so long to get your BOB back to you! lol Thanks, I DID have a grand time! The only reason I would get a new one is to upgrade to an underwater/waterproof point and shoot. I will do this at some time if I can find an affordable one when the mood strikes and funds allow. For now I am content with the Kodak mentioned above (because its already paid for!). The batteries were dead and I didn't have any with me Saturday so the phone pulled backup duty. -

Thank you all for all of the kind words of my trip - I feel like I have finally proven myself to myself. I have felt like a competent fly fisherman for a while now but since I had only fished Taney and Bennett I would not have been too shocked to have gotten skunked. Thank you also for all of the blog clicks! Oh and before anyone asks, yes the glove was wet even though it doesn't look it. These pics aren't too bad for camera phone images - enjoy: -
Nice pic! Maybe they were traded in for a newer model??? I thought JD had logged in under your name there for a minute TF.

Sorry, but if he shot it he would have been as wrong or more as the dolts who have killed the ones here, since the only time he saw it the cat was "disappearing into a brushy area". Just saying.

See report (text) below from my latest blog post I don't have time to post the pics here today, will be able to tomorrow but until then they are on my blog.
