  1. ^^Disregard that, not sure how I got my wires crossed to insert that one in here lol. The professor had a 50 min lecture on the topic. -- That was a good read. I would like to see the figures they used to generate the yearly average from though. The numbers don;t seem to make sense to me using this logic. If it takes the Earth 5 years to recover from an eruption and there are eruptions far more frequently than every 5 years, how is there not a surplus of co2 built up without interference. Additionally what about the Suns increased warming effect due to the holes in the ozone layer from CFC's (which yes are man made, but not caused from fossil fuels)? Would that not attribute the increased temperatures? Lastly, even if co2's are the root of all this evil, the Earth cannot keep up with out production of them, even if CRU didn't make everything up and neither did Al Gore, our Earth's temperature has taken a downward trend in the last nearly decade. Whereas I still feel that the warming was due to cyclical heating/cooling which human kind has had little effect on, going back to me original statement wherein the Earth was still on its way out of an ice age and our actions as a race were mearly a drop in the big ole temperature change bucket. -- But again Al, what you posted was a good read and I will be nosing around the sites/orginazations you referenced. You do use perfect logic and seem to be well educated and informed on the subject. Something I admittedly am not, and I can only form my opinions on what I have learned so far. I look forward to your answers to my questions in this post. It is people like Eric that seem to be very lacking in not only knowledge of the subject, facts and basis, but also only shout there opinion as loud as long and as many times as possible that can make people who may be on the fence sway the other way because it seems completely unfounded coming from a dolt like him. I guess criers make deniers ?
  2. LOL Have you looked for a "person sized" Kethum Release Tool??
  3. You really are dense. Did you have to go to the special classroom in school where the teacher read all of your tests to you so you could pass because you had a lack of reading comprehension? I do NOT fight for the oil companies and coal companies. Please show me where I have. (Also still waiting for you to point out where I said fossil fuels did not effect the environment). And for the record, I am only 21 and have only recently started educating myself on these important matters in the last two years. I do believe that it is your leftist self that has been fully indoctrinated and is the lost cause. --------------------------------------- Look forward to the info Al!
  4. holly lunker Batman! What a fish!
  5. So you are not brainwashed, just stupid? Or are you blind? Please point out to me where I ever stated that the consumption of fossil fuels didn't cause any environmental problems. Not that I have to explain anything to you anyway, but, I feel we should reduce our dependence on fossil fuels because our gov't is so corrupt that it cannot regulate oil companies to a point in which they can safely drill on our own soil. Read as they would rather cater to lobbyists rather than prevent situations such as in the Gulf and then play golf instead of address serious issues as they arise. Until we can tap in to our own supply safely, and to a degree where we can cut most of our dependence on other countries (the oil is there) we will continue to feed families in those country's instead of our own as well as paying higher prices at the pump. Additionally we need to cut down our dependence due to the fact that fossil fuels are a non renewable resource and there are some applications in which if there ever is an alternative fuel source developed it is still centuries away. If we cut our usage down now it ensures us the resource will be around longer for those applications. And Eric I LOVE how anyone who ever makes a point to a leftist such as yourself that is a valid point, you people always play the lack of credibility card due to the fact that (insert Fox News show host here) said it, when in fact you have no retort or anything to refute my claims. You will be happy to know that I haven't ever once watched either Limbaugh or Beck's shows. I do not follow them by watching or reading online and I do not have cable and they aren't on any of the five channels I get. Al, my sources are a Geological professor at the oh so liberal Missouri State University and (I believe) Nova (some show on PBS, one of my five channels). It is beyond me as to what an admittedly liberal professor at a liberal state school would ever make such a well grounded case against global warming if the science wasn't there. I do not recall his talking points after regurgitating it back out on his test but I will see if I still have the lecture on a flash drive or my external hard drive anywhere. Also on the Mt. Saint Helens topic, even IF I am flat out wrong, what about this catastrophic twice the size of Texas volcano referenced in the original article, what impacts did that have? The both of you (sorry Al, I only classify you with Eric this one time temporarily) seem to talk a lot of smack to me about how I am so wrong but I don't see anything to back it up aside from Al's explanation of why people would dash global warming. This is not a call out by any means, I am looking to further educate myself. Have a good morning. -Jason
  6. Thanks for the quick e-mail Gary!
  7. Gary, Until the last couple of days I was oblivious to the MSA. Had I found this info sooner I would have been in attendance. My e-mail is JasonDCarroll@gmail.com , please feel free to add me to any mailing lists you may have to keep me informed of any further going ons in the Springfield area. I would not be opposed to Neosho or other area meetings either if a couple of us Springfieldians could carpool.
  8. Wow are you really that brainwashed? Now without even going into how all of Al Gore's BS was made up, it is an irrefutable fact that the Mt. Saint Helens eruption of 1980 made more of an impact on the Earth than all of human-kind has, and undoubtedly ever will. (*EDIT DUE TO POOR WORDING: The Mt. Saint Helen's Eruption made more of an impact on the atmosphere and temperature, not appearance etc.) Of course the Earth was warming ever so slightly we (the planet Earth) were still in all technicalities emerging from an ice age. Al Gore lied to profit from his own vested interest (and finances) in alternative energy. I am not a denier, Al Gore is a liar! This is not to say that I do not feel that change is needed in our fossil fuel usage etc.
  9. Makes you wonder how many other fallacies and falsehoods are strewn throughout this article.
  10. Good info! I hope to make it down Saturday and try to get in on some of the action from the bank!
  11. Hello from Springfield! I have been a lurker here for a few weeks now and finally joined yesterday. I am by no ones standards an expert and unfortunately will have little to contribute but I got tired of not being able to see all of your guys' pictures of being on the water and catching fish! My name is Jason, I'm 21 and have been fishing all of my life, I grew up fishing the Big Piney and the Gasconade, both of which I was blessed to live in a close proximity to in Cabool, Missouri. Now that I have gotten married, had a child and moved to Springfield in pursuit of an education several things have happened to really cut into my fishing. Namely, I got married, had a child and moved to Springfield. So now if and when I do find the time and a day pass from the Warden, er uh misses, to fish I don't know how or where to catch fish. That landed me here. In the short time here I have learned a wealth of information about the three Branson lakes I now live near, trout fishing and white bass fishing. Additionally I have been able to live a fun fishing life vicariously through you all. For this I thank all of you. The type of fishing I do is all wade or bank fishing as I do not have access to a boat. This can be challenging in its self as all of you know, so the tidbits I pick up here and there from you is appreciated all the more. I look forward to continuing to soak up all of the info I can from you all and contributing when and where I can. Also I apologize in advance to you fly/trout fisherman for my stupidity to come -Jason
  12. I see. Nice catch btw!
  13. Do you ever have much luck very near the dam? I do not have a kayak and have not tried wading below the dam. Also, where did you float to? or did you just paddle back?
