  1. I once watched most of a boring video of some guy wouldn't stop talking about himself and how he was going to sell the fly for $12. I don't remember anything else from the video so I guess I didn't learn anything. That guy seemed like a real tool.
  2. There you have some meaty goodness.
  3. If you just carry your fillet knife with you you don't have to worry about your stringer getting all tangled up.
  4. I don't see why they wouldn't want to add the plus one with all of the extra money to be made from two more marque games.
  5. It's not our fault they aren't smart enough to eat a perfect fly on a perfect drift.
  6. It's a Scott F2 at that!
  7. Hey Okie boy, what was Iowa State ranked?
  8. Although not this model, I own a couple of other Redington rods and some other Redington gear. Quality has been better than I first expected and the customer service has been top notch. With that being said, bang for the buck and value wise you can't really go wrong. With the new models having just came out I bet you can find a pretty good deal on one (if that isn't what spurred this post to begin with )
  9. You guys didn't happen to see a TFO Pro 4wt and an Allen Alpha I laying on the bottom didja?
  10. How much are you trying to get out of the Rise. What condition is it in?
  11. I have one that I bought with a 4wt rod originally. I upgraded but I kept it as a backup. It didn't give me any issues but it is heavy and ugly (IMO) on the frame side.
  12. Do you have a link to that document to add to the others compiled in this thread?
  13. I believe the loop in the rear is to help prevent fouling. If you you run the tag, or second fly end of the leader/tippet through the loop it holds it up and in. I'm sure my explanation is clear as mud.
  14. Fish has gotta be at least 13" or he wouldn't been able to get his fingers up into it's gills so easily. D-uh.
  15. Headhunters on line fly shop has the limited edition Simms G3s on sale for $350 through today as part of their Black Friday sale.
  16. Just in case you miss this the first time Brian. Brilliant idea DD!
  17. +1 "If it's too loud you're too old" comes to mind.
  18. You sir, are correct in you entire post. On the Bimmer topic, if anyone wants to not only feel important*, but have a very safe, reliable and even more fun to drive 2000 model 3 series with high miles for a cheap price give me a shout! I promise to recirculate the money into the local economy through a mom and pop used car lot for a vehicle with four doors for my wife to drive. *Effect not garuanteed, only implied by previous poster
  19. Well that pic wasn't taken at Taney! The fish pictured was caught about a foot worth of drift into the calm water after drifting the riffle. If you are hung up on the size just think of all of the big hairy spiders, wooly worms and other creatures you see bushwhacking your way to and down those wild streams. I like the stimi with barred legs and a little flash. I don't know if the fish care though.
  20. Yeah Thom. It's obvious that all of the fish in there are stocked. I was just pointing out the irony of the original posters statement (in bold) in which he labeled only the 12-14" fish as stockers when all of the fish are stockers. I guess my sarcasm was lost in the post. My apologies.
  21. I guess only the wild fish are smart enough to grow to the stature of 26" huh?
  22. Awesome! You didn't have to tell him twice did ya?!
  23. I don't have a set rule for any sort of driving to fishing ratio. What it comes down to for me is is the fishing worth the drive? I'm probably not going to drive an hour to fish a farm pond for bluegills, no matter how long I could spend there. Would I drive an hour so my son could catch bluegills non stop for half an hour? You bet. Some trips I spend as much time driving as I do fishing but when a junkie needs a fix a junkie needs a fix! Like Flysmallie said, getting there is just half the fun and that goes hand in hand with catching fish is only half the battle. The other half is making it home alive.
