It is important if you are trying to tie as it should be tied. Not so important if you are tying just to catch fish...It is always fun to tie classic fly patterns as they have been tied for years. But when it comes to fishing them...close is good enough...
Is it to early to fish Capps Creek? Took one trip down there last November and it was WINDY and rainy. Not much luck, as in skunked, but would like to give it a few more tries this year...I was thinking after the leaves have left the trees and stream?
Price, Price, Price...If I need help finding something, I will ask. Don't follow me around offering your "advice". However, if I purchase something, and it isn't what I wanted or it is faulty, I'm all about customer service...Is that so wrong?
It was rainy, but I went anyway. I did not go up the river towards the park, time issues, but did fish from the first entrance point to the middle point. 1 rainbow and 2 browns. Both browns came on dries on consecutive casts. Fun day in the river in the rain. I had it to myself...
Used some floatant for the first time and it worked great. Flies floated high.
Most likely I will go tomorrow and was planning on heading upstream, under the bridge and towards the spring. At what point do I have to stop because of the park. I figured with the low water, I may be able to go right to where the spring enters the river. Anyone know?
I caught a 12"er Friday and was THRILLED!!!!!!!!! But, I'm easy. If the quality of your fishing trip is judged by the amount and size of your fish, you're doing something wrong.
I grabbed my felt soled waders, and headed to the Niangua this morning. Started out with a hopper/dropper, and the hopper won. Mostly small browns, with a few stocker sized rainbows thrown in for some color. First time with this set-up, and I do see some potential...
Fished today, fish were really hitting short on me...only landed 2 rainbows and no browns...Flung some big honkin hooks and feathers for about an hour...then switched to more "conventional" flies...Great day on the river, traffic was minimal...tried some salmon egg flies for the first time...I think they like em...but I don't...
