Ascend 10' Sit Inside Yaks
Stoneroller replied to jdmidwest's topic in Lodging, Camping, Kayaking and Caoneing
there is a device, similar to a hot glue gun that you can use tubes of polyethlyene in, they come with the kit. From what I've seen it works amazingly for splits and cuts. http://www.austinkayak.com/products/5357/KC-Welder-Pro-with-Ocean-Kayak-Color-Rod-Stock.html also available with hobie color stock, -
ham only has to be 140ºF... There is a wildfire out of control in Missouri right now. They think it was caused by a cigarette butt. We just had the fire dept here saturday night because the idiot neighbors tossed a smoldering/spent firework into the dumpster. toasted the dumpster and the door to the area it sits in. I'll get a picture tomorrow.

yeah now it's concentrated in the fish! d'oh! Atrazine is another favorite. Got corn fields? You got atrazine in your drinking water.

I'm seeing nesting bald eagles at every single lake that I fish. Anyone else seeing a dramatic increase in the numbers of nesting pairs. I cannot remember seeing this many last year. I can think of 2 from 2011. I've seen 6 pair this year alone. Thank what ever deity you might believe in that DDT was banned in the USA. Unfortunately we still produce millions of tons of it and ship it elsewhere in the world where it's not banned. D'oh!

my favorite event, spear chucking! -
105º just leave your food in the sun, it will cook on it's own, there is no need for a fire anyway. it attracts bugs, bears, and the boogey man and gives away your position to the enemy.

Would You Support This Legislation?
Stoneroller replied to kevthebassman's topic in Conservation Issues
I will refer you to california and illinois as current case studies in how increasing the number of law enforcement personnel not only increases the state debt but does absolutely nothing to reduce crime. It does increase the prison population though, which in turn increases the number of law enforcement officials, which increases the state debt, in the house that jack built... -

http://thesouthern.com/news/local/one-missing-two-badly-hurt-in-rend-lake-boat-crash/article_7b0489c6-c00f-11e1-87e8-001a4bcf887a.html FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL - Two people are now confirmed dead as a result of a boat collision Tuesday afternoon on Rend Lake, Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler said. The body of Larry Smithhart, 38, of West Melbourne, Fla. was found at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday in 8 feet of water in the Gun Creek area of the lake, which is near the intersection of Illinois 154 and Interstate 57. Officials pronounced him dead at 11:42 a.m., Leffler said. Smithhart was associated with the company Bombadier Recreational Products and Vehicles, which specializes in watercraft and which has a facility in Benton. Smithhart was with another person -- a woman also associated with Bombadier, who a St. Louis medical examiner identified as Teresa Perez -- test driving one of two speed boats at about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, when it collided with another test boat at full throttle on the water. The woman, who was found on a nearby shore, was taken to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment of severe injuries. Leffler confirmed Wednesday morning she died from those injuries. Officials are still investigating the accident, but preliminary reports suggest Smithhart's boat was knocked inland about 30 yards. Three individuals who have not yet been identified were on the second boat. One suffered major injuries and was airlifted to a hospital, one suffered lesser injuries, and the third was not injured, according to earlier reports from authorities. A search by water, air and land continued as night fell Tuesday, while the ground search was suspended later in the evening, Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones said. Agencies involved in the effort included the sheriff’s department, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Illinois State Police, Sesser Fire Department and dive teams from Rend Lake and Benton.

Has Anyone Fished Lately?
Stoneroller replied to Patrick M's topic in August A. Busch Conservation Area
hit the big lakes, the smaller ones are essentially catfish lakes. haven't been out there within the last couple of weeks, but it pays to rent a boat and fish from it instead of fishing from shore. -

Missouri Water Patrol Getting Ready For Drunken Boater Crackdown.
Stoneroller replied to P_L's topic in Conservation Issues
people are on here saying there needs to be more enforcement of the wildlife code and more deterence of actual crimes against other people and their property. While the cops hide in the bushes on the river, people like jerry sandusky have access to your children. Time to get our priorities straight and concentrate on violent crimes that harm others or their property and stop feeding the illegal gov't prison system with nonviolent criminals, turning them into violent offenders. Hope you enjoy spending your tax dollars on that crap. I don't and I vote. -

you can't exercise freedom anywhere now. wish they'd concentrate on taking down child molesters and sex offenders as much as they did people enjoying themselves on the river. -

Huzzah And Courtois Access Sites
Stoneroller replied to stlfisher's topic in Huzzah & Courtois Creeks
most take out at scotia which is about half way from the bridge to the confluence (we are talking a matter of hundreds of yards between the bridge and the takeout and a few hundred more to the confluence, total less than 1/4 mile) , but there is some good structure on that stretch. hit it early and the floaters won't be there yet. then move downstream from the bridge or up the courtois later in the day to avoid the clowns. -
Huzzah And Courtois Access Sites
Stoneroller replied to stlfisher's topic in Huzzah & Courtois Creeks
getting above them could be a trick with the water levels as low as they are and with most of the upper accesses in private hands. There are a few spots you can get to the river, but honestly Huzzah Consv. Area is going to give you your best shot at decent water. You could get across the river and fish up either the huzzah or courtois as they come together less than 1/4 mile from the hwy e low water bridge. (upstream) you could fish downstream to the meramec, alternatively. That stretch doesn't see a ton of people usually. -
Huzzah And Courtois Access Sites
Stoneroller replied to stlfisher's topic in Huzzah & Courtois Creeks
fish aren't completely stupid, why hunt for food when drunks will stir up the bottom and dislodge all kinds of tasty bits. you can access the river at huzzah conservation area off hwy e south of onadoga state park. you have access to a good stretch of both creeks through there. fewer twits too. -
Ascend 10' Sit Inside Yaks
Stoneroller replied to jdmidwest's topic in Lodging, Camping, Kayaking and Caoneing
I've heard all kinds of downsides to the Ascend, from the cheap/thin plastic used to create it, to it's mass produced and shoved out the door as fast as possible lack of attention to detail. Lots of people buy them though, but then again justin beiber has gold records... -

save your money for the orion. you'll be happier with that purchase. -
if things get slow with smallmouth you can usually catch some really nice gar through that section. I float through there quite frequently and it's the lowest I've ever seen it. Slow and low water usually means slow and low presentation, unless you catch the fish in their feeding windown and then watch out. It will be hot and heavy action.
