  1. I normally fish the upper James between Aunts Creek and cape Fair, but I'm taking the family camping at Mill creek next week and wanted some advice on how to fish the lower end? Jigs deep? Is the crank and ww bite still on? Just trying to get a feel for how different it is,especially with the stained water I've been reading about. Thanks for the help!
  2. 21.3 won it today. Big bass was 9.1 wow what a hog! Top 3 where all over 7 lbs. I had my biggest ever that was over 6 but spawned out. Huge frame fish! My Best 5 hit 15.7 which I was thrilled with. Caught them early on a Carolina rig with a 4 inch finess off of transition main lake points. Later the biffle bug was the ticket next too structure and shade. Most folks I talked to had the most success on a crank in shallow flats with the Gail force winds that we have. Today was my first ever t
  3. Looking to take a few friends to the Rock tomorrow, but dont see any recent post about the bass bite. So I need your help. With the warm temps have they moved real shallow? Back of creeks yet? Jig, BBH, jerk, bama...or what would be te best to throw at them? Thanks for the help!
  4. Thanks Straw Hat! What were the bass bitting on?

  7. Here's a chance to own a newer boat without taking that huge initial hit of depreciation! This is a 2008 Pro Team 175 TXW with the fixings, and several upgrades. The seats look like new! I added the pedestal seat in the front. I've also replaced both tires and a battery. The boat also has the upgraded (not standard at BP) 75 horse 4 stroke motor! Believe me it will flat get up and go! Boat also comes with a Tracker boat cover! The swinging hitch allows it to fit into my 20 ft garage for nice indoor storage(which is where is stays when not on the water). I love this boat but am not using like it should be used. This boat would cost you over well over $15K today at BP and you have a chance to own a 3 year old boat in great condition and not take over 35% depreciation just by driving it off the lot! Asking $9,990 OBO. I can be reached at 417-766- one one 45 All-welded Revolution™ hull MotorGuide® 12V, 46-lb thrust foot-control trolling motor Lowrance® fishfinder w/surface temperature Lockable 8' center rod box, rod hold-down straps (bow deck & cockpit side) 2 bow storage boxes (and center rod box Aft 16-gal. livewell Cranking and trolling batteries by Interstate® 2-bank, 4-amps per bank (8 amps total) battery charger Painted gunnel & hull sides w/natural aluminum bottom for long-term durability
  8. Thanks everyone! I didn't get this in time to try it tonight but I will later. Had good luck on main lake points with 10" power worms Texas rigged (mostly red shad). We caught about 10 tonight with 4 nice keepers. Problem is the bite was gone after dark? I fished till 12:30 and never caught one after dark. Very odd
  9. Thanks! But I've got a dumb question: what's a fish dr? I like point ten and the transition around that island too
  10. Alright Rock Experts I need some help. I really struggle a ton in July and August on the Rock. I don't have the sonar to fish drop shot well so I normally fish a PBJ FB Jig and pig deep off channel changes, main lake points, docks, structure and bluffs. I also like the 10 inch worm (Red Shad, blue flk, Green pumpkin) and BBH (Watermelon candy) I normally fish late evenings and into the night or early mornings. I fish Flourocarbon and I like to fish them slow. In the end I can't seem to even get in the double digits and I burn an ton of gas and get a lot of practice casting in. Almost makes me want to stay home...almost. Challenge is this is my best time of year to fish so I can't just sit at home and wait till fall because that's my busy season. I normally fish Cape Fear and Aunts Creek. I really appreaciate evenyones advice and the more detail the better, I'm still trying to understand a lot of the lanuage you guys talk on here. I'm headed out tonight and tomorrow night so any advice is appreciated.
  11. I really love Stockton! After a frustrating Morning the day before at Table Rock my buddy and I returned to old faithful, Stockton and tore up the bass! Caught 30 or so fish from 4 till past dark with the best activity around the last 30 min of daylight. A lot of good size fish 3 in the 4 lb range. However the bite never really stoped. Caught everything on baby brush hogs and 10 inch power worms. Fished gradual banks and caught them from 2-15 ft of water. Love this lake as I always have good days there. didn't try a blade or jig, but might next time. The fish were on main lake points, both gravel and rock.
  12. What does "fizzed" mean?
  13. Went bass fishing out of cedar ridge from 3 till dark. Fished main lake and secondary points most of the day with moderate success. Such a calm day at Stockton that I was shockec to not be blown off the lake! Caught everything on a baby brush hog - watermelon candy color Texas rigged. Probably caught 20-30 fish total but only 6 keepers between my friend and I. We had a ton of 14 inchers! Found some on rock banks durning transitions from chunk in 5-10 foot of water. Caught the most fish really shallow. Saw a really nice bass literally almost out Of the water eating on the shoreline, never seen anything like it.
  14. I caught a few Kentucky's and a small mouth on a watermellon candy baby brush hog flipping in the bushes. Caught one sm off a point with a PBJ jig.
  15. Will be bass fishing Indian point this weekend. Never fished this part of the rock before. Any advice? I hear Bill says to fish the rock run out la on points but with the water up and the fact that I've never seen this part of the lake before I'm pretty much in the dark as to were those points are. Guess I'll flip in the brush with a pbj fb jig? I have a feeling the main lake points are going to be pretty rough with all the holiday traffic so I'm guessing I'll have to stay in the coves a little bit to keep from getting bucked off the boat:)
  16. Thanks for the feedback!
  17. Got on the lake at sun up this morning at aunts creek and gave the bass the old college effort. Threw everything at them, but the kitchen sink. Had a few players but no takers on a shaky head pumpkin. Tried the normal stuff: spinner, BBH, jig, grub, tubes and a partridge in a pear tree. No dice. Tried fishing shallow in the brush, deeper on the original shore. Talked to one nice guy who had a little lick early with the spinner and later with the shaky head. Guessing the front didn't do me any favors. Any advice on what to do different would be much appreciated. Frustrating dove this was the only time I've had to fish since mid April.
