  1. Some of Missourian Chuck Tyron's book might fit your bill. Here is a link to them. I have a couple and have enjoyed them. http://www.mosportsmen.com/forsale/forsale.htm Also for Arkansas tailwaters try Steve Wrights, Ozark Trout Tails. I am not sure if the 2nd edition is out yet. Dano
  2. Definately an icon. John, like you I remember weekends watching that program with Dad. I remember one program where he and Ted Williams were fly fishing the salt. I don't think two guys had more fun than what was depicted on that program. Surely one that will be greatly missed...Dano
  3. Phi I checked them, then go back to see, and they are unchecked. Haven't gotten any email notices since I checked them either. This also appears at the bottem Subscription auto pruning is switched off at present
  4. Rob ... I would work the dam first, next try the riffles just upriver from the handicapped area. You can also reach the C and R area from the handicapped access too. McClellans is always good it seems. The flys you mentioned, also some soft hackles like the Red Ass should also be effective....I think there are a couple of nice places in Norfork...Here is the one I am familiar with...Rivers Fork Inn...13839 Highway 5 S Norfork, AR 72658, (870) 499-5391 Dano
  5. Let us know how it works for you....by the way, in my post I mean't to say I add no more than 2 foot of tippet to the sinking leader...I don't know where the 2 to 4 ft came from, other than it was a geezer moment... Dano
  6. I think that if this happens to me (fishing in a spot that a guide wants for his client) then I intend to hold my ground (water) whether I catch fish or not. If they want to cast into my spot then I intend to continue to cast and hope they get hung up on my line. This eventually might cure them of trying to take over. For some reason I just feel I can hold out longer. Gotta remember to bring me a sandwich.
  7. Cap'n...I've tried all of that...Dano Phil, I went to the view topics and clicked them on and changed it to immediate email notification. Is that all that has to be done there?
  8. Again I would like to see this reg implemented on Taney and the other streams in Mo. I wish I had statistics from Ark to see how effective the reg is here. Any law written sure would have to be clear as to how shuffling is defined so there would be no gray area as to the violation....Dano
  9. Illegal
  10. Cap'n I always tie mine using a length of tippet tied to the bend of the first hook. Typically I use a clinch knot to do the tie. Dano
  11. Bob I am sure you are right I think some specific language would have to be included that would strictly define what it is in order to give agents guidelines in how to enforce it....Dano
  12. John you got it..just let me know....Dano
  13. I have ticked and reticked all the little places to get email notifications of topics that I respond to or start. I still am not getting them. Is anyone else having this problem? Phil are the board folks hard to get info out of if you were to ask them? I like this feature, just wished it worked on my settings....Dano
  14. I don't have my MDC regs handy, but is shuffling actually mentioned in the rules and regs? If not why is it not. Seems that is one that should be on the books....Dano
  15. I have fished some of these, but it seems to me that ostrich herl really soaks up the water, and turns to mush have a few casts. Anybody else notice this and does it make a difference anyway? Dano
  16. Don't forget this annual event! 9th Annual SOWBUG Roundup March 16 - March 18, 2006 Family Life Center of Redeemer Lutheran Church Paul Craig 100 Deer Park Loop Mountain Home, AR 72653 (870) 491-5520 cvso@cox-internet.com http://www.northarkansasflyfisher.org A celebration of fly fishing featuring over 100 fly tyers from across US and Europe. We offer instruction in fly tying, fly casting and have seminars that cover general conservation and fly fishing. This is a family event, we have many youth tyers. 17. I agree with Wayne. And you answered it yourself. Putting in the time to do things right. The best online resource for me is www.rodbuilding.org Dano
  18. KR...sounds like your plate is full, reminds me of myself about 20 years ago. Anyway, I think the key to fishing the sinking poly leaders or a sink tip/full sinking line is to keep the tippet short. I sometimes just add only 2 to 4 feet of tippet directly to the sinking leader by a loop to loop. This seems to get the bug down to where it needs to be....Dano
  19. Well Buddy you know I am going to suggest Dorber
  20. Sam What size do you typically tie that MH Leech..For some reason I just can't seem to get the body thick enough?..Dano
  21. Steve S. How much amnesia do you use as a butt? Length? Thanks....Dano
  22. John Dorber is a rod maker in Flippin Ark. They have been making rods for years. I built a rod on one of their blanks (not the new one) and absolutely love the action. You can check them out at www.dorber.com they are also some of the nicest folks to deal with either in person or by mail order. I agree with Fox on this company. I haven't seen or cast their new generation of rods....Dano
  23. Hey Cap'n you work for Mesa??? Great service by the way. If you ever get a layover, we'll take a trip up to Taney one of these days....Dano
  24. John I been thinking the same thing....I am going to have to let work quit interfering with my other pursuits.. Dano
