  1. John, It was a pleasure meeting you and your wife at the cleanup. Its always great running into nice people. Lets fish the river one of these days. Dano
  2. Man, there is no argument with me on that statement. Dano
  3. The story says: "The city will pay for the store's museum by issuing capital improvement bonds, which will be paid off through taxes generated from sales at Cabela's." When you divert taxes to pay off the bonds, this probably means some other essential services of that city may suffer. I hope not. I don't know anything about Hazelwoods tax base nor how financially secure it is, but it could be an issue. I am for commercial progress, but not at the expense of the taxpayer. Dano
  4. Joefish I would suggest the Little Missouri River...Its about an hour Southwest of of Hot Springs. Good camping too. Here is a site to check out. http://www.littlemissouriflyfishing.com/ and another one http://gorp.away.com/gorp/resource/us_river/ar/littmiss.htm Dano
  5. Welcome, it a great place to hang out. Tons of knowledgable folks here. Dano
  6. John sent you a private msg about the rod. Dano
  7. Why haven't the MDC ever stocked Brookies and Cuts in Taney? Dano
  8. Jeremy I probably catch more fish on a soft hackle than anything else, as a matter of fact I will fish Taney and only use a soft hackle the entire day. Of course my problem is tying the partridge on a size 18 or less. Are you going to cover this fly in any of your tying sessions? Or would you have time to do your hackle technique after a class sometime? I have seen several ways and mine needs an overhaul. I may not be picking my hackles good enough, either that or its my fumble fingers. Dano
  9. It was a pleasure putting faces to names today. I sure enjoyed meeting all of you. Hope we can make this an annual event at least. Phil, thanks again for providing a forum where people can share their experiences, gain new insights and offer their knowledge. Dano
  10. I took this a few years back of a friend fishing near the handicapped access on the Norfork. I just simply added some text, and have always liked it. Dano
  11. Was there also with JoRob. We started out below Outlet 1 and I did well on a light olive size 18 soft hackle. JoRob was fishing scuds and midges catching fish in the skinny water. I agree with JS, the chop sure helped. I have come to like a little chop..it helps forgive some presentation and fly size, etc. We later moved down to the boat ramp. There the water was fairly still. No luck for me. JoRob caught a few on the moss beds. Leonard was there earlier. He was stripping a white wollie and catching several.
  12. Gary Thanks for the info. Dano
  13. No problem roundtrout. I needed to mention that at that Y there is a store, there are signs there pointing in the direction of the dam. Have fun and let us know how you do. Dano
  14. The latest forecast I saw did not mention snow now. Lets keep our eyes on it. Dano
  15. Macfish Welcome aboard, a great place to share and get info. Dano
  16. Welcome Randall Dano
  17. I would take Highway 65 South to Harrison, then taken 62/412 to Mountain Home. Take the 62/412 bypass to Highway 5 South, go 10 miles to the y, go left 2 miles to the dam. Dry Run is the creek that runs into the river near the campgrounds. There are several access points. It would take you less than 2 hours to Norfork. There are no permits or licenses for those age 15 or below.
  18. DRC is truly a gem. The Little Red has Collins Creek named after Rip Collins. I too wish Taney had something similar. Dano
  19. Brian Did you see the forecast for next Saturday? Snow and High of 34! Might cut down on the number of people. Its crazy, Friday the 3rd its supposed to be 62, then Sunday the 5th. its in the 50's. Dano
  20. And the same in Ark! ie: Crooked Creek and all of its issues, Dissolved oxygent problem on the tailwaters, yada, yada, yada. Dano
  21. Course depending on what you are trying to accomplish, such as fishing subsurface and the film typically I would put the beadhead below the other fly. As to the knot, I prefer a clinch knot tied to the hook bend.
  22. Good rain here too Wayne...but as dry as its been it would have to rain for a week (hard) to make much difference I would say.
  23. John, You shoulda hollered today. I probably could have gotten away believe it or not. When I came back to the office about noon today, I was thinking how stupid I was for going to the office this morning... Dano
  24. Unless I talk mine into it probably not. Dano
  25. Thanks Gary, sure would like to know that answer. Dano
