  1. I can't believe I failed to mention Dorber. I have a couple of rods made from their blanks. The best customer service ever. The first rod I ever built was a dorber blank. That is going to be your best bet. They are excellent about offering all kind of tips and also have hardware for them too. I would go with Dorber. Thanks Griz for mentioning them and kick starting my memory. Dano
  2. I was going to give you the info, but you got er done.... Dano
  3. I don't know about their spinning blanks but I have used Batson rainshawdow fly rod blanks and have found them to be excellent. My favorite 4wt is on a rainshawdown blank. I don't think you could go wrong. Another one you might look at is Tiger Eye blanks. Dano
  4. Heck Fanatic, call it caught. I would have give it to you. Dano
  5. Good for you Mike. I know its been awhile and with all you have been through I know it was about time. Hope your dad is doing well. I will see you soon for a trip. Take care bud. Dano

  7. Don't think the link is working. Dano
  8. Brian has a great idea. I am positive there are casters here willing to teach new fly fishermen and spend time helping others get tuned up. Brian great to see you back on OAF. Dano
  9. Excellent!!!
  10. I was at Kyles last yesterday afternoon. River is too low to float there. You could still find some deep pools that might hold some fish up river from the first canoe launch. As for Carver you have the directions right. When you get to Western Grove take 123 to the right and it will take you to Carver. You could also go to Hasty just up the road to the right from Carver. 11. I don't recall any areas that would require it.
  12. I can't believe the water was off late yesterday. I knew I should have gone. Dano
  13. Most Fly Fishing clubs have people available and willing to teach also.
  14. My next truck will NOT have computers and electronics.....
  15. Our own OAF'er Murdoc makes a dandy fly rod. Check them out here http://rdpflyrods.com/ Also Clay Goforth from the board here makes a design your own one here https://www.g2rods.com/
  16. Good grief that's expensive all around. I am just not a big fan of pay for play fishing spots stocked by the owners. Camping is out of site and cabin rentals are way out of line as far as I am concerned. It sure is a pretty place and the creek looks nice, but I bet I could have as much fun at the NF of the White, Crane, RR or one of the wild trout destinations in Mo . Dano
  17. Man drowns, this after another angler was swept down river yesterday but rescued. Dano http://www.baxterbulletin.com/article/2009...er-breakingnews
  18. Leonard Giver her our best. DAno
  19. Simply amazing....
  20. Welcome. Sounds like you are ready to go. Good luck. Dano
  21. I have Orvis Silver Labels. If I recall they are a couple of hundred dollars or more less expensive than the G-3's. I have had them for several years without any issues. The pair I had before were at least 5 years old and sprung a leak in the neoprene booties. I sent them back and they replaced them with a new pair. Their customer service and warranty on waders are superb. Dano
