    Iced In

Wishin I was at work.... Trying to keep a 9 year old grandson from being bored stiff. Listening to a daughter snore. Planning on having to take the wife to work before dark. Watching idiots tear up my front lawn by driving through it to avoid a tree down on the road, then watch the road crew cut the tree and throw most of it on my front lot.. I wouldn't want their job though. My hats off to them. I can't believe we still have power. It's out just up the road and all around me. I am just not optimistic it will stay on.
  4. Zach, its pretty bad but not like Jan 2000...yet. I am sure you remember that one. Hope your folks are all snug as a bug with plenty of power. Dano
  5. Lost a big cedar in the front of the house...no great loss, but I like to take them down on my terms. There is a tree down across the road from the house blocking my road. I don't have a big chainsaw so I called the County. In the meantime a 4wd pick up tried to go around it, right on my front property and caused big ruts, got stuck and backed out. Its a good thing I didn't get out to him before he got away. Some people....Dano
  6. Ham My daughter is a nurse at NARMC....she says the census is down fortunately since some workers could not get in. Are they full at BRMC? Dano
  7. A picture off the porch a few ago...Dano
  8. Were having brown outs. Some areas around me are without power. Its probably just a matter of time here. Good luck everybody. Business and offices are closed and everything is pretty much shut down. Dano
  9. Tie them with Tungsten bead heads. Tungsten is heavier than lead and will get your fly down very fast. Dano
  10. Well, being the frugal fly fisherman that I am, I would suggest a 10 dollar fanny pack from Wally World or some place similar. Most would have plenty of room for what you mentioned and most have d rings to hang stuff from. Cinch it up tighter and stick your net in the belt at the small of your back. Streamworks also makes a magnetic d (net) ring that will connect to the back of a shirt, jackets, etc. Dano
  11. One way, and what I do is change the thread color of the head slightly. For a weighted bug you could use brown instead of black, orange instead of red, etc. The small difference in hue is not noticeable and the fish don't care anyway. Dano
  12. Don't know Jerod. Dang thing looks like it would be cumbersome all filled up with stuff. How much support would that wide belt have if the bag was full and heavy. Seems it might cause more back issues than just a wide support wading belt. But I was never good with physics so I probably have no idea what I am talking about. Dano
  13. I like the Rio lines too. I typically use the double taper Cortland Classic 444 peach on the glass rods though. Dano
  14. Icing in an around Harrison. A few wrecks already reported 5pm. Dano
  15. I want Hardy, Give me Hardy
  16. GET THE HARDY....GET THE HARDY..... Craftsmanship is first rate. Weighs the same as the Orvis, but is twice the price as the 150 being offered to you. You can't go wrong with the Hardy in my opinion. I would jump on that deal in a heartbeat. Dano
  17. John, excellent tips and advice. How do the redds and or eggs survive during generation so close to the dam? It just seems there is so much turbulence that they would be destroyed. Dano
  18. A good listen with pertinent information about nymphing small flies. You can even download it for later. http://www.askaboutflyfishing.com/ Dano
  19. First fly rod I built was in a class. I thought it turned out pretty good. The blank was from Dorber in Flippin. I took it on its maiden fishing trip to RR and as I was pulling the tip end from the rod sock....snap....about three inches of the tip was in my right hand. Typically I take a back up or two but not this time. A wasted trip and my pride was broken. I took the tip section to Dorber they kindly gave me another and I built the new section. I am extremely careful these days... Course I don't worry as much, GLASS don't break as easily..... Dano
  20. The Battenkill bar stock that you picked out is hard to beat. It only weights a little over 3 oz's, and at just over a hundred bucks is inexpensive when it comes to quality reels. Good choice. Dano
  21. Simply upload the three or more (one at a time) to the same post. Dano
  22. There is an original White River jon at the Gaston Visitor Center at Bull Shoals Dam.
  23. I knew you would get some class one of these days....
  24. He answers to Maddog. There probably is no more prolific flyfisherman on the Lil Red than Mike, unless there is a guide that spends more days on the river than he does. Something else Mike didn't say is that he loves to fish midges and has developed some color combinations that would blow your mind, but work very effectively. I sure look forward to his reports and leading the effort on the Little Red Forum. Welcome pal. Dano
