  1. Dont know where you are planning on using it at but I have a Sevylor Fishmaster 325 that I bought 2yrs ago and a buddy and I have used it LOTS on Spring river. I've been very pleased with it, especially how rugged it is. You can buy accessories for it such as motor and trolling motor, I have none of these so can't comment on how well they would work, we just put in and float to where we usually camp. Only complaint I would have would be, that the board seats get rough on the butt after about 4 hrs of floating but that's fixed easy enough with a couple boat seat cushions. Hope this helps
  2. Invest in a furled leader they are pretty much indestructable and last forever. I never would come off the money to buy one but a buddy made me one a few months ago and I'm sold, will never be without one. Tie a surgeons loop in leader and one in tippett, makes for a really quick change.
  3. Anyone gonna be at the river this wknd
  4. Not really an answer to your question but Coleman.com, go to the clearance section, unbeleivable deals on waders and lots other stuff. I've bought several items lately and have been very pleased. Just throwin it out there for any one that might need something.
  5. Sureley someone has been lucky enough to have gone fishing lateley, any reports, throw a dog a bone. Gonna be a few more weeks before I can get cranked up good would love to hear about someone elses good fortune.
  6. I'm sure there are several of us that, if it were financially possible would love to "buy several hundred acres" and preserve it. Unfortunatally, owning river frontage, especially hundreds of acres, for the most part has became like the classic car hobby in many respects, reserved for the wealthy. I'm definatally not in that category, but I do love my cars and my river and will never give up on either. I too get disgusted at times when I'm there, but I have to tell myself that my little bit can make a difference, maybe some kid will see me picking up beer cans floating by, remember it and pass that on to his children, or make the jackass in the canoe who threw it out in front of him feel like enough of a turd that he wont do it again. I'm no politician, radical conservationist, or anything like that, just a regular guy who loves the river and will do my small part, so that hopefully myself and others can continue to enjoy it. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step, think of the differance that could be made if those of us that care, would join and make our voice heard more. If in the end it produced no result, at least we would no we tried. Look at how much of a mess (at least in my opinion) our country is in because the majority has sat on their butts and kept their mouths shut, while a few of the minority screamed,on any given issue, until they got their way. While the majority tried to convince themselves either that their opinion didn't matter or the problem would simply fix itself. Problems seldom fix themselves, my opinon does matter, and my mouth expressing that opinion over the years has caused me some discomfort, anyone who knows me can attest to that, but will never have any doubt as to where I stand on any given issue. Please don't ever give up, what small part you do, does make a difference, to both yourself and people like me, letting me know I'm not out ther alone fishin out beer cans and sunglasses. Sorry for the long rant, just had to get it out there and let everyone know there are lots of us out there "doing our little part" and it does make a difference, think of what it would be like if we weren't doing something.
  7. Haven't been fishin in bout a month and withdrawls were getting pretty bad so I drove up and fished the Spring for a couple hours this morn. Was in the water at daylight and fished Riverside from the canoe launch, South to just above the first fall. Picked up a dozen or so in a couple hours, all just small stockers, Olive and Black beadhead flash a boogers were the trick this morning. Not much of a report, but something anyway. Be glad when this last summer boliday is over, the weather cools and the fishermen can have the river back.
  8. Thanks for the tip. Anyone heard of or been to Deshka Wilderness lodge, it looks pretty promising also, but I'm sure I will ultimately take the advice of you that have "been there done that"
  9. Hello everyone, been reading the forum for a while but this is my first post. I pretty much exclusively trout and walleye fish Spring river, both ultra light and fly, especially in the winter, usually at least every other weekend and whenever I can steal a day during the week when business slows down. I know the bulk of yall are Missouri stream fishers and primarily fly fishermen so dont beat me up too bad. The wife (who is my #1 fishing partner, usually packed before me) and I are planning a trip to Alaska. From what I've researched so far, probably on the Kenai river, but were open for any suggestions. This will be at least a year in the making, gotta save my pennies and my daughter will be out of college next year so that expense will be behind me. Anyway if any of ya'll have had the pleasure of going I would love your to hear your stories and get your advice. Glad to be a part of your forum, I look forward to many more great stories and advice as well as forming new freindships.
