  1. Well summer is coming to an end, and there is some still great fall fishing. However, what did you try new that worked this year. Mine started when I could not get a bite. I had tried everything and was drop shotting a fineness worm. I saw a box of Uncle Bucks Helgramites that I got on clearance for $.25. I didn't want to re-rig so I took it off the jig it came with and hooked it through the head. What do you know, it started working. So I kept trying it. I have caught whites, bass (stream and pond), blue gill, crappie, and catfish on it. I haven't had the same luck with the jig it comes with. Try it and let me know if it works for you. http://www.basspro.com/Uncle-Bucks-Helgramite-Rigged-Soft-Bait/product/61657/
  2. darn... to far for a day run from IL.
  3. Does anyone know of any outfitters renting fishing kayaks? I thought I remembered someone here reporting it.
  4. Anyone interested in the using two (mine and yours) trucks to float/fish this Saturday (11th) in central to eastern Missouri (coming out of IL). I have a canoe or we can use yours. Looking for ethical floater.
  5. Has anyone ever floated/fishing in a "fishing" float tube in the Ozarks. I've seen recreational folks in full tubes. What are the safety issues if any? I would be concerned about catching my feet in a tree or something.
  6. Go or not... try some winter fishing there after deer season. Some of my best days there have been on warm sunny days with snow melting.
  7. I so want to be you when I grow up.
  8. Just my two cents.... 1. If it is a hot day in August or September... go somewhere else. Not because the fishing is bad, but the heat can really stress out the fish. If you do go... try to release them in the water if possible. 2. I think scuds work the best, but whatever you use, go SMALL. 3. Stealth is probably more important then the fly. Good Luck MIC
  9. Why would you leave them on the bank... I would think you would gut the swim bladder and put them back into the water. Let them breakdown there.
  10. I think that is everyone. A little extended for a "quick" flyswap, but some darn good flies.
  11. I like them all but this is the one i cant wait to try. Sure this would work in lake or stream... bass or bluegill.
  12. Gents... Claim your flies. Post your recipe, name it, and add a story about it, special instructions, or both. PS... thanks to my wife for the pictures. Very important if you have seen my purple catfish. All self posted packages are in the box waiting for pickup. I cant wait to try these out.
  13. Ps... No bluegill fishing right now....quit your man-bitching.
  14. Sorry. I had a bad back injury and was sidelined. I'm back on my feet. Will work on them Saturday. Actually it was a "rib out of alignment"... felt like a mix back sprain and a broken rib. Didnt know that was possible. Hurt to move and breath. Anyway... Sorry for the delay.
  15. Gents... Back from vacation. All the flies are in. I'll have them out by the end of the week.
  16. No problem. don't think anyone will use them until the spring.
  17. I assume they are in the mail?
