  1. For the forum... Can't talk Jason into giving it another try, but I understand. We still need three more entries. MIC
  2. Welcome, another creek fan here.
  3. I was looking at them from a thread on the Current or Montauk pages, but the website I found for them was closed down. I figured they weren't open anymore.
  4. I hope to fish all the wild creek areas (Spring, Piney, and Mill) and maybe a trip to Montauk. Looking for something clean and cheap in the middle of it all.
  5. Does anyone know about the Rustic Motel in Rolla? I'm thinking about stay there for a quick getaway. I'm just fishing, and just looking for clean rooms and nice folks.
  6. THE HORSE IS DEAD....QUIT BEATING IT? Protect the wilds as much as you can... stockers are for eating do want you want if your going to eat them, protect them if you're going to release them. Put something wet between the fish and dry ground when you take your pics.
  7. I look and look, but never see any. I need someone to show me what to look for. Want to keep my wild's going well.
  8. Here are some of my very favorites. You can watch them online or buy the DVDs. http://kwsu.org/Offers/FlyTying.aspx
  9. Your right, I don't believe you...what is the name of the creek again?
  10. Trout worms and split shot.
  11. That's deep...but spot on advice.
  12. Done...those are some good looking flies.
  13. FFF... I'm from the Atchison area. You anywhere close.
  14. I've never fished Montauk before, but if it is like the rest of the spring runs... If the sun is shinning and/or really warm, griffith's gnats are killers. Try tying a large one 12 or 14 and tie a small 22 off the bend of the bigger one. If there only popping the big one, cut off the size 22 and drop off a zebra midge. Enjoy the day. That is my favorite winter setup for dries. Another rig is I've read about but have not tried yet (can' t wait) is to use a large griffith's and a small bead head crackleback. After the float, swing them across stream. Again, I only heard it works. I've only fished small streams this year and there isn't a lot of swinging flies.
  15. No. No. That horse isn't to dead to beat.
  16. A little off subject, but try poring a Dr. Pepper and brown sugar mixture over a Xmas ham and keep basting with the mixture as it cooks. Got that from Alton Brown on Good Eats (Food Network). Makes for tasty ham.
  17. I don't know if it helps, but I lay my fish in the wet fish net for pics.
  18. Welcome...and agree regular reports from RR would be a nice break from work and those of us from St. Louis.
  19. No...the theory is that laying the fish on dry rocks will wipe the slim off the fish which can lead to skin infections and kill the fish. I don't know if it is true, but it makes sense. Maybe one of our biology majors can add something useful to the conversation
  20. Updated....we need three or more tiers...
  21. Jason, I didn't get any flies out of that batch either. Come on in and join up. I'll make sure things happen right this time. Hell, if it will help, I'll throw in some perfect indicators for you.
  22. Come on all... this forum can do better then five folks in a fly swap. Its winter and it (should be) is cold and you need some new flies for spring. Man-up
  23. Check this out and enjoy...
  24. This is how you fish a root wad? http://vimeo.com/34323872
