  1. Any of you fellow walleye anglers want to swap info regarding walleye fishing and locations this year as they begin to migrate? I will start it off by saying where they are not.........In the last week i have hit Tecumseh once and The Pothole twice....Have caught a couple keepers but nothing big yet. I had one bight at tecumseh fished for six hours from the bridge to dawt.. Fished the pothole and had two hits the first night, one was 19 inches. Fished last night from 6 to midnight and caught 1 21 inch and lost another. Two guys with me couldn't keep the trout off their baits but did not catch a walleye. Went down to swanny and saw a few eyes but did not have any luck. If anyone is interested keep this thread alive and well and lets help each other find them........... heres a photo from last night
  2. Break my jinks on the ten pound walleye. Something always goes wrong. Usually the guy standing next to me using the same bait catches him or the guy netting him knocks him off or the eye gives me back my jerkbait right at the bank or............ this year i'm putting him on the wall.
  3. While fishing for stripers using 6-8 inch swim baits i have in the past caught several big browns. I have also seen others using swims baits catch the big browns while striper fishing. Usually using the rainbow or orange color. I don't know how consistent you could catch them but i do know they will hit it. I have caught more on the large rogues or jerk baits.
  4. I use a black wire trap this time of year and use either cheese/bread ball for bait (be sure to smear some around the openings on the trap) or canned dogwood. The trick is to place the trap with the entry holes facing the current and place brush over the top and sides leaving the entrances exposed. Works great for chubs and slicks.I leave mine out overnight and check in morning
  5. Hope you have better luck than I have had lately.......3 big uns on and never got to see anything but an empty spool by the time they were done with me..Kinda hurts the pocket book when you figure 40.00 in line and 10.00 in a lure each time you get spooled....But hey its like they say 40 in line 10 in lure having a fifty pound plus striper spool ya...........priceless
  6. Winter is by far my favorite time of year to fish. No pleasure boaters or floaters. Have the water to my self and there is just something about the crisp air. My best night ever came on the upper bull last year during the big snow event. Fished til my reel froze up solid(around two in the morning) and caught 26 walleye two over nine pounds. Had to sleep in truck til snow plow came by and still took three hours to get home but man was it worth it..Its almost that time of year
  7. Very nice walleye. We do need to get together on the swapping info. I checked out some of your videos and we do things completely different. I think we could learn a lot from each other and may both benefit. Need to hook up and get after some big stripes Very nice boat by the way.....
  8. Been catching a lot of big stripers lately What do you get for mounting a 40-50 pound striper?
  9. Alot of walleye starting to show up and being caught at night on rogues from Barker Hole up to the dam
  10. I catch 90% of my big walleye from the bank in real shallow clear water, a boat would only spook them. Some in your neck of the woods and some that are worth the couple hours drive it would take you to get there. If your interested let me know and I can put you on some hot spots for bank walleye. A couple of the spots are just getting real good. I have a close friend that just got an eleven and a half pounder from the bank two days ago and his mother got a nine pounder the same night.
  11. Thanks, Do you fish for stripers or walleye?
  12. My home changes with the conditions. But my favs are from Norfork Dam to Dawt Mill and From Bullshoals dam to Taney Dam. And Holy cow why are there so many big brown trout below the taney Dam all of the sudden???? Are they spawning????
  13. I fish for stripers where ever the big ones are at the time. It depends on what is going on with local conditions at the time. Two of the above fish were from Bullshoals from Swanny up, and one was from upper Norfork. As far as the rest of the pics on my website they came from Norfork Dam area, couple from Cransfield area on Norfork up to Dawt Mill area, but the majority from the upper Bullshoals area.
  14. Throw away the old moon phase charts but dont overlook the astro tables. They have their place. I agree with everyone that local conditions are the most important factor in fishing, however, during long periods of stable weather conditions i live and die by the astro table. For example last winter walleye fishing, generation and weather patterns were fairly consistent and me and a couple walleye buddies began using the fishing buddy app on our droid phones to record exact times and weather conditions for each walleye caught. When you catch a walleye you click a button on your phone and it records all pertinent info. After doing this for nearly all winter we then went back and compared our catches to the astro tables predictions and were amazed at the results. It was very accurate in predicting heavy feeding times. We did catch fish outside the times predicted on nearly every trip but almost always had our best catch rates on days with the highest fishing values and during the predicted times. Only exceptions were due to changes in local conditions; fronts moving through or generations variances. There is a link at ozarkstripers.com for the astrotable we used. I will also note that when we tried the same experiment during the walleye spawn and white bass run in the spring the results were all over the place. I do use the table religiously for striper fishing after I refer to generation and local weather conditions. Again I have went back and checked predicted times with actual times fish were caught and most of my big stripers have been caught during predicted times and most of my multiple catch days have occured on days with a fairly high value. In my opinion(for what it is worth) I would say it is worth taking a look at if for no other reason than to increase your confidence which affects the intensity in which you fish. Perhaps that is the true magic of the Astro Tables!!!!
  15. Caught 10/9/10 Weighed 49 pounds 14 oz the following morning when i got a chance to weigh it, so i call it my 50 pounder. Caught 7/18/10 Second runner up at 43.14lbs caught 7/17/10 Third runner up at 42.13 lbs Also caught 10 others above 25 pounds this year. I have pics of those at ozarkstripers.com along with some big eyes caught earlier this year.
